For me, if you only try one or two products from Drunk Elephant, I would always recommend their serum and moisturiser options. With my personal favourites being the T.L.C.Framboos Glycolic Night Serum and Lala Retro Whipped Cream. So when I found out that Drunk Elephant would be releasing their first new serum in eight years, I was instantly excited. I've been putting the Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum to the test for over a month now. And I think I might have a new favourite Drunk Elephant product.
It is available now at Cult Beauty, Space NK and Boots, here in the UK. And it is priced at £69.
So is it worth the investment?

Let's get into the review itself;

Many of you will know Drunk Elephant's original product that is packed full of peptides; the Protini Polypeptide Cream. And this has been designed as a sister product to that silky feeling cream. If you have normal, oily or combination skin, this is the Drunk Elephant moisturiser for you. But I still prefer LaLa Retro for my dry/dehydrated skin.
What really intrigued me about this serum, above and beyond the peptides, was the inclusion of Lactic Acid. For me and my skin type/issues, I've found that Lactic Acid has not only been the most gentle but also the most effective at keeping uneven skin texture and flaking at bay. So I was really looking forward to seeing how this would perform on my skin, particularly in the depths of winter when I first tried this.
Does it irritate sensitive skin?
If you've experienced stinging or irritation when using either the T.L.C. Framboos or T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial, I would easily point you in the direction of this serum instead. Both of the T.L.C. products caused my often sensitive skin to sting and become red. But it felt worth it, given the incredible results that I was getting.
But I experienced zero irritation, redness or stinging when using the Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum. And that was even when mixing it with other products/actives. My skin actually feels soothed and hydrated after using this which is quite the departure from other chemical exfoliants that I've tried in the past, even ones with lactic acid as a main ingredient.

It is that gentle that it can even be mixed with a vitamin C in the morning and a retinol at night. Both of which I've put to the test and had no issues with. And either mixed in with other products, or on its own as the only active in my routine, I can honestly say that my skin feels considerably less textured and dull. As well as a whole lot softer, after I use this.
I can't gloss over the peptide properties of this serum either. If you're looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles (it has made a big difference to the ones caused by dehydration on my forehead) or have your skin produce more collagen, this also aids in anti-ageing.
Would I purchase it again?
The fact that it hasn't irritated my skin in the slightest but is still producing some serious results has completely won me over. Plus, I love being able to use it day and night. As always, make sure to wear an SPF in conjunction. But that should be something you're doing every day anyway. I was previously using a separate Lactic Acid (this one) to get its benefits, along with other serums that required a Hyaluronic Acid or Facial Oil (Protini Powerpeptide Resurf includes Marula Oil and Squalane!) to be used afterwards to soothe and hydrate the skin. Whereas, I've now eliminated those steps and additional products from my routine by just using this one product instead. As I say, I now have a new favourite Drunk Elephant product.

If you are looking to improve your skin's texture, tone, radiance or just its overall appearance, the Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum is 100% worth trying.
What do you think of the sound of this new serum? Will you be trying it? And are you a Drunk Elephant fan or someone who's always wanted to try the brand?
