Drunk Elephant are a brand that have long intrigued me. On previous trips to the US, I would stalk the Drunk Elephant section in Sephora, not sure what to try first. So when the cult beauty brand announced that they would finally be launching in the UK late last year, I was beyond excited.
The one product that always caught my eye was the TLC Sukari Babyfacial Mask. But sadly it never made it's way across the pond due to the percentage of acids that it includes. I also could never justify spending $80 on a product that would most likely be too harsh for my sensitive skin anyway.
The other product that I was also really keen to try was the Lala Retro Whipped Cream.
If you've not been reading Ellis Tuesday for too long, my skin is dehydrated and can often get quite sensitive. So I am always on the lookout for moisturisers that pack a lot of punch, particularly in the Winter months. It was just before Christmas that I dipped into this glorious lavender topped tub.
Speaking of the tub, I'm a big fan of the aesthetics of the Drunk Elephant brand and the ways in which the products operate. And that can immediately be seen when you unscrew the lid on Lala Retro.
If you hate dipping your fingers into a tub of moisturiser and the typically unhygienic feeling that goes along with it, this is the product for you! It dispenses the perfect amount for one application. But you can always double up if you have particularly parched or dry areas.
I was a bit weary when I saw the word whipped. I worried that it might be too frothy in texture to make a real impact on my dehydrated skin. But in fact, it was the exact opposite. It's unbelievably light whilst still being incredibly moisturising. Normally the only products that feel like they are properly nourishing my skin are really thick and gelantonous and take about half an hour to truly penetrate the skin. But this cream sinks in quickly and leaves the skin feeling super soft.
Another big bonus of Lala Retro; it's unscented!
This is honestly the Goldilocks of moisturisers when it comes to my skin. It's not too thick or gloopy, taking forever to sink in. But it's not too light in texture that I need to apply lots of it to even make a difference. It's just right!
If you haven't yet tried Drunk Elephant and have been thinking about doing so, seriously, just do it! I'm so tempted to pick up one of the Littles sets so that I can basically put the whole range to the test. Let me know if that would be something that you'd be interested in reading.
In the UK, you'll find Lala Retro at Space NK, Boots and Cult Beauty for £50. And when you compare it to similar moisturisers on the market, isn't really too bad at all.
