dalmatian spot bedroom

I've wanted to give my bedroom a bit of a refresh for years now. And after seeing a few people attempt a spotty feature wall, I decided to give it a go myself. It's safe to say that I now have a dalmatian dot bedroom that truly embraces my love for all things animal/polka dot print.

If you've been reading Ellis Tuesday for years now, you might remember previous room tours. Like my 2015 spring and autumn/winter ones. But it's been a while since I shared what's going on in regards to my bedroom decor.

So here's how I achieved my dalmatian dot bedroom and a bit of a room tour combined;

dalmatian wall decals

First up we have the most impactful change and that is the dalmatian dot wall.

You will no doubt have seen a sneak peek of it in my new Desenio wall art blog post. But here it is in all its glory!

If you know me, you know that I am a little bit obsessed with polka dots. And in particular the dalmatian-style dots. So after seeing these exact spots on Beth's Instagram, I knew that I had to give them a try. And I could not be happier with the results.

The wall itself

I bought them from this shop on Etsy and the customer service was truly impeccable. The dots themselves adhere really well to the wall. But you can move them around if you're not happy with the placement. I used around 400 dots in total to do both my back wall and the opposite wall, which houses my door and mirror.

h&m home gold metal hanging rack

Speaking of my door, I picked up this gorgeous gold door hanger from H&M Home just before Christmas. I love how expensive looking it looks, despite being just £12.99 and the fact that I can hang a variety of items up (I previously just had one hook on the back of my door). It's also available in matt black metal but the gold really caught my eye. It seems to be sold out online. But if you have a H&M Home near you, I would definitely see what they have in store as that's where I managed to find mine.

Some of my favourite spotty accessories

The first dotty purchase I made was actually all because I needed some storage solutions and had just binge watched Get Organized With The Home Edit. I really reorganised during lockdown and that's when I came across the Habitat spotty range of storage. I just checked my order confirmation and I actually paid considerably more for mine as they were from the Habitat website before they merged with Argos. Whereas, the set of two big storage boxes are now an absolute bargain.

I've stored all my summer clothing and accessories in the biggest box, after years of having them crammed in suitcases. And in the other I've got all the clothes that no longer fits or suits me that I'm trying to sell on the likes of eBay and depop.

And in the set of three storage boxes I've got my hair tools, my travel bits and a catch all box filled with my prescriptions, some snacks and face masks.

Because you can't have too many dots, my next purchase were these curtains from Next Home. They don't seem to stock the exact ones that I bought. But they have an almost identical pair from Myleene Klass on the website and Dunelm also do a great dupe that are even double sided.

And I replaced the copper light shade that I'd had up since my last room tour, so 6 years ago. I got it from George at Asda for £12. And I am thoroughly impressed with it, especially for the price I paid.

I also gave my rotating beauty organiser a little tidy too. If you'd like me to dedicate a full blog post to what I store in it and the products that I need to have within easy reach, let me know.

decor and design scotland magazine

Decor & Design Scotland

What probably inspired me to finally get redecorating was the fact that I've been spending a good number of hours each week working for Decor & Design Scotland, a brand new magazine based in Scotland, focusing on home decor, design and renovations. And our very first issue is out now!

kate spiers interview

I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing one of my favourite bloggers of all time; Kate Spiers (aka Kate La Vie) about all things Scotland's Home Of The Year, her second tenement renovation and home design in general. I also put my hours of binge watching Bridgerton to good use to show you how to get the Regency look in your own home. And there's even a garden design article from me too.

I would absolutely love to hear what you think if you get a chance to read the magazine.

What do you think of my dalmatian dot bedroom refresh? Are you a fan of all things spotty and dotty like me? Or what is your current interior style?
