Now, if you've been reading Ellis Tuesday for a while now or have ever stumbled across any of my previous skincare blog posts, you will know that I have dehydrated skin and uneven texture. And as a result, I'm on an almost never ending quest to find the products that really work to improve both of these issues. From budget buys like The Ordinary and CeraVe, to Pixi, Drunk Elephant, Kiehl's and many many more, I've had some serious hits and misses. Herbivore Botanicals, or Herbivore, as they're often referenced to, are a brand that I have wanted to try for while now.
And when I discovered that they had products designed to combat dull, uneven and dehydrated skin, I was keen to put them to the test. And here are my thoughts;

If you've ever felt a bit intimidated or even scared of trying retinols, chemical exfoliation or face oils, these three products are ones that you should be picking up.
Herbivore Prism Exfoliating Glow Serum (£48)
The one product that I have been dying to try from Herbivore Botanicals was their Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion. And since then they have added several products to the Prism range such as the Prism 20% Aha+ 5% Bha Exfoliating Glow Facial and this very product.
Despite this being a decent 12% AHA 3% BHA, it is made up of natural plant based acids. And I've found that acids from fruits, in particular, are some of the gentlest on my skin. It absorbs into the skin quickly, without leaving any sticky residue. It isn't an immediate result, like a physical exfoliator but my skin barrier can often be compromised by using gritty or scrub style products.
If you have acne prone and/or uneven skin, this is a great chemical exfoliator to try out first.
Herbivore Bakuchiol Smoothing Serum (£45)
As someone who has been wary of adding a retinol to their routine, this is a great alternative. First of all, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin in the slightest, which is what has kept me away from retinols. This doesn't dry out the skin either, as retinols can. So if you have wanted to get similar results without the worry, this Bakuchiol Smoothing Serum is a great buy.
I often get flakiness and little bumps on my forehead, giving me that uneven skin texture and this has seriously improved that, in combination with the two other products in today's post. A little really goes a long way with this and like the rest of the Herbivore range, I am obsessed with the packaging.
Herbivore Orchid Youth Preserving Facial Oil (£22-54)
Whilst this is suitable for all skin types, if you have dry or dehydrated skin, you need to try this oil! I've steered away from oils thinking that they would make my skin greasier or oilier. But I needn't have worried with this oil. I've mainly been using this at night and my skin feels so soft and hydrated in the morning. I actually stripped back my nighttime routine to solely this and my normal cleanser, to see if it really was this product making all the difference and it was!
In terms of value for money, I would definitely recommend picking up the 50ml bottle instead of the 8ml size. If you have a Space NK near you, you can try it in store and even ask for a sample. But in terms of £ for ml, it makes much more financial sense to get the 50ml. They did do a travel sized/sampler set at the end of last year (it's still available on Revolve), which would have been the perfect purchase but sadly that seems to have sold out here.
I have been so impressed with my first foray into Herbivore and can't wait to try more from the brand soon. The Prism 20% Aha+ 5% Bha Exfoliating Glow Facial is at the top of my wishlist.
