vitamin c beauty products

If you have dull, uneven, textured skin or are looking to dabble in anti-aging at any age. Let me point you in the direction of all things vitamin C.

Now, I have to admit, up until very recently, I hadn't really dabbled with vitamin C at all. Other than what I get from my daily glass of orange juice. But that all changed when Pixi sent over the most incredible vitamin C bundle to coincide with the new range's recent release. And I couldn't believe how much my skin loved the burst of vitamin C.

So I thought that I would share some of the best products to add to either your current skincare routine or ones to swap out completely in favour of a hit of vitamin C.

TOP TIP: When using any acid (which many of these products contain) and vitamin C during the day, ALWAYS follow with an SPF. Even when it's raining or dull, you should really be wearing something to protect you from UVA/UVB rays and sun damage.

pixi vitamin c review

Pixi Vitamin-C Cleanser* (£18)

Let's start with a cleanser. There's no need to rinse with this one, which makes it perfect for travel or if you're on the go a lot. It contains probiotics and antioxidants along with soothing orange blossom water.

I also love that it comes with a push down pump applicator. Something that more skincare products should 100% come with.

Pixi Vitamin-C Toner* (£10)

Now we've all probably heard of Pixi's iconic Glow Tonic. But did you know that they have a whole line of toners for all different skin types and issues? There's a retinol tonic, a rose one, a milky one and now a vitamin C one. This specific toner is designed to brighten and even out skin tone whilst also gently exfoliating the skin.

drunk elephant c-firma day serum review

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum (£67 for the full size)

If you remember reading my Drunk Elephant Get Even Kit blog post, you will know just how impressed I've been with some of their products. Seriously, if you haven't given Drunk Elephant a try yet, you are missing out! If you have dry skin or uneven texture, the high percentage of acid really does get to work in this product.

If you want to try this serum out without taking a gamble at £67 a bottle (or the Drunk Elephant range in general), I would wholeheartedly recommend picking up their The Littles 3.0 set. Or alternatively, the Get Even set, if you're after some bigger sizes to put to the test.

This Works Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum* (£37)

For a slightly more affordable vitamin C day serum, I would definitely recommend checking out this one by This Works. If you have particularly dry or dehydrated skin, this serum is packed with 2% hyaluronic acid as well as slow release vitamin C. This means that it will work all day to give you brighter and more hydrated skin.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Protect Lotion SPF 30 (£15)

With the added benefit of built in SPF 30, this lotion gets to work on dull, tired looking skin. There's also no white cast, making this a great UVA and UVB protectant to add to your daily routine. A little goes a long way with this lotion as it is on the slightly thicker side. It also smells incredible!

ole henriksen banana bright eye creme

Ole Heriksen Eye Creme (£30)

It featured in my Best Summer Beauty Buys 2019 blog post and has been applied to my eyes ever since. But I had no idea that it actually contained vitamin C until I started doing a bit of research for this very blog post. I guess I should have made the connection, given that it comes in an orange tub to be honest. It has such a lovely consistency. And the slight tint to it does wonders if you have dark circles or discolouration around your eyes.

Paula's Choice C15 Super Booster* (£45)

For what really is a super boost of vitamin C, 15% in actuality, Paula's Choice has a concentrated formulation that can either be used alone or mixed into your regular moisturiser or serum. The combination of vitamins and acids in this stimulate collagen production. They also work great to repair visible signs of aging and to firm the skin.

Night

glossier super glow review

Glossier Super Glow* (£24)

As a big fan of Glossier's Super Bounce serum I was really intrigued when I received Super Glow to try out. For me this is more of nighttime serum than one to be used in the day. All I can say is hello glow. They certainly named it correctly, that's for sure!

It leaves your skin looking so glowy, something I hadn't really seen my skin do other than after an actual facial. When you wake up, after applying this before bed, you really will marvel at how good your skin looks. At least that's how I always feel when I use this little bottle of glow.

Treat(ment)s

I like to think of the following as treats for my skin as well as weekly treatments;

the body shop vitamin c

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion (£18)

I'm planning a blog post dedicated to all things exfoliation next month. But I simply had to include this product in today's post as well. If a normal physical exfoliator leaves your skin looking bright and glowy, this takes that to a whole different level. This product is great if you frequently suffer from breakouts or under the skin bumps that are just waiting to reveal themselves further. It's honestly one of the best exfoliators that I've ever tried. And I can see myself buying this over and over again in the future.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Revealing Liquid Peel (£18)

Another literal glowing review from me on this product too. I actually first tried it at a St. Enoch blogger event on the back of my hand and was stunned to see how much gunk came off what I thought was clean skin. I simply had to return to St. Enoch to pick up the full size. When I first used it on my face I could not believe how much dead skin and debris just rolled off my skin. It sounds gross but it's bizarrely interesting to watch. Again, I cannot recommend this product highly enough, even if you're not too fussed about the vitamin C properties. The Body Shop also do a Drops Of Youth and Drops Of Light versions of this peel, if your skin is looking for something other than vitamin C.

Pixi Caviar Balm Mask* (£24)

This is a lovely mask to use at the end of a long week. You can either leave it on to completely soak into the skin or you can rinse it off to remove it. I personally like to let mine melt into my skin as it always leaves it feeling so smooth afterward.

clinique fresh pressed vitamin c review

Clinique Fresh Pressed 7-day System with pure vitamin C (£25)

Last but certainly not least we have one of the best and easiest ways to try out vitamin C on your skin. And it is this 7 day system from Clinique. Comprising of two parts, the first being a powder cleanser and the second being the daily booster that you can add to your regular moisturiser. This is an intensive way to give your skin a real hit of vitamin C for some instant results. I had always been curious as to what this 7 day amount would be like but I'm so glad that I gave it a go for today's blog post.

Do you use any vitamin C products in your current skincare routine? If so, which one or ones? And do any of the products in today's post sound like they could work for you?
