If you've been reading Ellis Tuesday for a while now you will no doubt have seen the Rare Birds Book Club feature before. I am a big fan of their monthly book club subscription. But if you're visiting Edinburgh anytime soon or in the future and you are a reader, there is somewhere that you simply must visit. And that is the new Rare Birds Book Shop.
Located in Stockbridge, Edinburgh, the shop is the first of its kind and a flagship for Rare Birds. From the very beginning the Rare Birds Book Club has been all about championing women writers and literature. And there really is a book for you regardless of your favourite genre or what you're looking for.
And, as you can see from my photographs, it is a book and decor lovers dream. I mean, just look at the dreamy colours, beautiful bouquets and brilliant books!
Despite living less than an hour away from Edinburgh and having visited the Scottish capital at least once a year for most of my life, I had actually never been to Stockbridge before. But the area and the street that now houses Rare Birds Book Shop has such a nice vibe. It's also nice to escape the hustle and bustle of Princes Street to enjoy a slower pace and to peruse and explore.
There were just so many great books. I spotted some of my all time favourites like Dolly Alderton's Ghosts. Also, You And Me On Vacation by Emily Henry and How To Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie. And if you can think of a great female writer, chances are you will find them at the Rare Birds Book Shop. If not, they can always order the book or books in for you.

Knowing that I was right into my rom coms at the moment, Rachel Wood, the founder of Rare Birds, recommended some for me. And upon her recommendations I picked up both Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne (I loved The Hating Game). As well as Rescue Me by Sarra Manning. Then The Split by Laura Kay caught my eye and I remembered seeing a few people rave about it. So I will be sure to let you know how I get on with each of them. Keep an eye out for upcoming bimonthly Goodreads Reading Challenge update posts.

I absolutely loved my visit to the shop and could have easily spent hours browsing the bookshelves.
I also 100% had my eye on the incredible smelling Book Smells candles. True Crime and Romantic Comedy, in particular, smelled out of this world. But as I'm trying to burn the candles that I already have before buying any more, I will need to keep buying both of these as incentives for travelling back through to Edinburgh and the Rare Birds Book Shop.

You'll also find bookshop staples like bookmarks, notebooks, Rare Birds book bundles, chocolate and their gorgeous tote bag.
If you can't make it to the store in person you can always shop a selection of books and join the Rare Birds Book Club via their website. That way you'll have the bonus of fantastic book deliveries every month.
Would you be keen to visit the Rare Birds Book Shop? Which of the books featured in today's blog post would you want to read first? And have you ever visited Edinburgh or want to in the future?
