L'Oreal Studio Line #TXT Volume Supersizing Spray £3.79
If you saw my Big Savings Haul then you will have seen that I picked up this product for the bargain price of £1.87 at the end of last month. I didn't necessarily need another texturising spray. Considering I had only just bought the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce texturising spray a couple of weeks prior. But I couldn't just leave it behind when it was less than £2 at the time.
I had heard a lot of mixed reviews when it came to this product. But I was eager to give it a try for myself. I now feel, having tried it, that those mixed reviews were probably warranted as there were some aspects of this product that I really adored. And others that left me and my hair feeling a little deflated.
It does give your hair hold similar to that of a traditional hairspray. But unlike hairspray it leaves your hair with a matte texture. I think this matte effect might be my issue with it. Initially I thought maybe I had sprayed a little too much on and that was causing it to feel a little crispy and dry. So I tried spraying less to see if that would make a difference. And it still felt a little strange. Now you couldn't really tell my hair was noticeably crunchy at the roots just by looking at it. But I could feel it, which was the problem. As I often give my roots a little massage mid way through the day, to add a little volume that way. I didn't like the feeling of my hair with this product in it especially when it came to the roots.
The one thing I really did love about this product was the smell. Even though I was wanting to target this spray at my roots to give them an added boost. And to increase the volume, I've been spraying it at the ends as well. The reason for this; so I can smell the amazing scent as my hair moves about during the day. I am really rather tempted to try out the rest of the #TXT range. Just so I can inject this smell into my hair through the use of different L'Oreal Studio Line products.
Speaking of the ends of my hair, I actually prefer the way this works on the lengths of my hair. Unlike the roots which end up weirdly crunchy, a light mist of the spray over the rest of my hair really gives it a nice effect. But considering I had purchased this hoping for added volume at the roots it was a bit of a letdown to find it really did nothing. Well nothing good anyway, for that area of my hair. Saying that, it won't stop me spraying it on the rest of my hair in the future.
Would I buy it again?
If you are looking for more of a budget texturising spray then I would give this a try, if not for the smell of it alone. But if I was to choose between this product and the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray I think the Charles Worthington product would win every time. This product isn't a complete miss for me as it does have some pro points. But unfortunately it didn't quite work in the way I had hoped it would.
