It's been a while since I posted a blog post like this. It was actually last summer that I shared some beauty bits that I'd been putting to the test. And since I've had a lot of time on my hands recently, I thought that I would share some of the new beauty products for 2020 that I've been trying out over the past few weeks.

And here are those ten new beauty products for 2020, covering recent skincare, makeup and haircare releases;
Too Faced Hangover Wash Away the Day Cleanser (£20)
If you saw my Too Faced Hangover Skincare Range blog post, you will know how pleasantly surprised I was with those products. And the fact that I was keen to try the accompanying cleanser when it was eventually released. And that's exactly what happened here.
I tend to avoid foaming cleansers as they can strip my already dehydrated skin. But this left my skin feeling squeaky clean, without making it tight. It also has a nice light and creamy texture to it. But I wasn't blown away by it. It is definitely a nice cleanser but there are cheaper alternatives that do just as good a job. I am interested in trying more out from the Too Faced skincare range though.
Glossier Priming Moisturizer Balance (£23)
Whenever Glossier release something new I am always ready to part with my money to try it out. And the release of this product was no different. But I do have to admit, I haven't been blown away by Glossier's two existing moisturisers. Their Priming Moisturizer was just okay and I couldn't get over the strong fragrance of the Priming Moisturizer Rich.
As a surprise to both me and my skin type (I have dehydrated skin that can get a little combination on my forehead and T-zone), I am definitely a fan of Priming Moisturizer Balance. It's really lightweight, controls shine but also works on any dry patches that I may have. It also doesn't make my skin look dull, which other mattifying products can do. If the Glossier moisturizers haven't worked for you in the past, I would definitely recommend ordering this one next. It's easily one of Glossier's best new beauty products in 2020.
L'Oréal Paris True Match Eye Cream in a Concealer SPF20 in Rose Porcelain* (£9.99)
It's been a while since I've tried a drugstore concealer but I was really intrigued when this one arrived at my door a few weeks ago. It's marketed as a concealer and eye cream in one. And as someone who often forgets to apply an eye cream every day, it's nice to see skincare benefits in a product like this. More on that when it comes to the next product in today's post.
If you often suffer from drier under eyes, which in turn make your concealer pill or go on unevenly, I'd give this concealer a go. It blends nicely, doesn't settle into fine lines and is really easy to apply. For a drugstore concealer, I'm impressed.
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare (£32)
If you've read Ellis Tuesday before, you will know how big a fan I am of IT Cosmetics' Your Skin But Better CC Cream. So when I heard that they were releasing a new foundation with skincare benefits, I was 100% here for it.
First of all, there are significantly more shades than the CC Cream. There were actually a few different options for me but the shade Fair Neutral 11 was such a seamless match. In terms of consistency, particularly when you compare it to the CC Cream, it's much more liquid and lightweight. It also has more of a matte finish whilst still being hydrating and natural looking. It's also really easy to apply and blend, plus you can build up the coverage. I think I may have a new favourite IT Cosmetics foundation!
Maybelline Color Strike Eyeshadow Pen in 30 Spark & 40 Rally (£7.99)
The older and somewhat lazier that I've gotten when it comes to applying my everyday makeup (who else used to apply far more makeup in their teens than now?), the more that I reach for lip/eye crayons and easy to apply products. These new Color Strike Eyeshadow Pens from Maybelline come in some gorgeous colours and at an affordable price.
Now they're not technically pens, like I imagined they would be. But instead they're a sponge tip that dips into the colour, that then gives you a cream to powder finish. This makes it really quick and easy to apply. And after a few swipes you get some good pigmentation. There's also pretty much zero fallout either and for the price, you can't really complain.
Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara (£21)
Now, I've got to admit, the really unique and interesting looking brush is what made this new mascara from Urban Decay a must-try for me. And it actually does what I hoped it would. If you're looking to catch and coat every single lash, this is one to try.
I was surprised, given the name, how natural my lashes looked with one coat applied. I was expecting, if not secretly hoping that it wouldn't be like, Benefit's BAD GAL Bang (which I did not like). But you can easily build up more volume, whilst separating each lash. I'm happy to say that this does live up to the hype for me. And it's the first time in a few years that I've seriously considered using another mascara on the regular, other than my beloved Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. It's certainly one of the best new beauty products in 2020.
Pixi Nuance Quartette Blush Quad in Sugar Blossom* (£16)
Pixi really know how to do a face palette and their latest summer release only cements that. There are two gorgeous pink blush shades, one beautiful highlighter and a universally flattering bronzer in this one palette. And for £16, it really is a steal.
I always enjoy having a big mirror in palettes like these from Pixi. And the shades themselves look so lovely and natural, even on someone as pale as me. They're also great if you have dry/dehydrated skin, where powders can sometimes emphasise drier patches or spots. These powders have ceramides, vitamins and botanicals packed into them and I really do (or more importantly don't) see a difference to those areas looking drier once I've applied these powders.
bareMinerals Mineralist Hydra Smoothing Lipstick in Optimism* (£20)
I actually received a lovely sendout from bareMinerals at the start of lockdown. But since I wasn't going anywhere other than my daily walks around my neighbourhood and weekly food shop, I wasn't wearing any makeup at all. I decided to dedicate one Sunday morning to having a proper play with makeup again and that's when these lipsticks got their chance to shine.
These lipsticks are great if you have drier skin or suffer from chapped/cracked lips in the colder months. A lot of the time lipstick can cling to any little imperfection on my lips, which puts me off wearing them all that often in Autumn/Winter. But these are really hydrating yet super lightweight on the lips. They're also completely vegan and come in a brilliant array of colours.
Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss in Love Letter & New Romantic (£19)
Now let me just start by saying that these are easily the best lip glosses that I have ever tried! And a lot of that has to do with the fact that they aren't sticky, like you might expect from a gloss. And the oil infusion certainly helps with that. They also come in some stunning shades.
These two shades give me that my lips but better look and they are the perfect everyday, natural looking lip product for me.

Last but not least, we have a haircare product. And since I haven't put heat (either in the form of a hairdryer or a straightener) on my hair since lockdown began, it can get a little unruly. It looks like these are designed to be used with TIGI conditioners. But I've had no issues using it with my usual Garnier conditioner.
If, like me, you often get soft hair that can go frizzy, this is well worth checking out. I do notice a difference when I do/don't use this as part of my haircare routine. It also smells unreal. Like I can't stop sniffing my hair when I've used it.
So those are the new beauty products for 2020 that I've been putting to the test recently.
