I've long been a fan of all things Charlotte Tilbury. And if you've read my blog for a while now, you will know that I think the original Magic Cream really does live up to the hype. But it can be a bit too rich for my skin in the warmer months. Enter the brand new Charlotte Tilbury Magic Water Cream, which as soon as I heard it was being released, I knew I had to try.
First of all, it's worth noting that I have dry/dehydrated skin. So I do still need some serious hydration, even in the summer. But let's see what I thought of the new Charlotte Tilbury Magic Water Cream;

Straight away I was pretty obsessed with the feel of this cream. I reviewed two similar water based moisturisers a few years back and the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Water Cream definitely has a very similar consistency. But it still has a richness to it that leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft and nourished from the very first use.
I really like that it leaves my skin looking so dewy and incredibly healthy. It essentially gives you that glass skin look that normally takes a slew of products to achieve.

It is pretty pricey at £79 for the 50ml jar, or you can grab the 15ml for £26. But I have a feeling, much like the original Magic Cream that this tub will last me a good amount of time.
I thought that this consistency might be right up my street and I was definitely correct. It still has some of the richness of the original but it being gel-based makes it significantly lighter. The new release also has a definite cooling effect, which I certainly appreciated over the warmer weather. It also added hydration to some dry patches that I had, primarily on my forehead and around my nose.
Is it as impressive as the original Magic Cream?
If I'm completely honest, I actually think the Water Cream is even more hydrating than the original Magic Cream, which was a bit of a surprise. I assumed that like many other water or gel-based moisturisers it would give a little bit of hydration because of how lightweight it is. But I was really pleasantly surprised by how well this worked on my dry/dehydrated skin. So much so, I think I would always opt for the Magic Water Cream now going forward. But that may change when we get into the real depths of winter.
If you happen to live near to a Charlotte Tilbury counter, I would definitely recommend making a beeline for it when you're next out shopping. That way you can have a little try of it and compare it to the original Magic Cream.

The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Water Cream is available from a range of different retailers, including Space NK, Cult Beauty, John Lewis & Partners, as well as from Charlotte's website.
