huda beauty matte and metal eyeshadow review

I have to admit, it's been some time since I've felt the urge to go all out with my makeup. But nothing makes me feel as put together as having my hair and makeup done, especially after eighteen months of not doing so. So when Boots asked me to create an eye makeup look for my next party, event or special occasion, I decided to experiment with colour and a new style for me.

So today I'm sharing a step-by-step guide on how I created that look and how you can replicate it yourself, if you so wish. And of course, to share some product recommendations with you as all of the products that I picked out worked so well.

So here is the eye look that I came up with;

Brows

Fenty Beauty Brow MVP Ultra Fine Brow Pencil & Styler in True Red* (£17)

NYX Lift & Snatch Brow Tint Pen in Auburn* (£10)

When it comes to my brows I like to use a combination of eyebrow pencils and pens to give them a more natural look. That way I can fill in my brows with a base shade and then go in and add fine brushstrokes to mimic real hairs.

If you haven't tried the Fenty Beauty Brow MVP Pencils, you are seriously missing out. As you may remember, I was blown away by the redhead representation that Fenty Beauty provides. I also adore the little toothbrush style brush on the end of this product. It's even better than using a traditional spoolie. And the True Red shade is such a good match for my hair colour and natural brows.

I'm also a huge fan of NYX's Brow Pens and when my holy grail NYX Brow Pen that I bought in New York a few years back dried up, I worried that I wouldn't be able to replace it. But I'm so happy to say that the Lift & Snatch Brow Tint Pen is the perfect alternative. I also love that it comes in an Auburn shade. After all these years of having to buy brow products called Taupe or designed for blondes or those with light brown hair, it makes such a big difference having shades that just work. Instead of me having to make them work for me.

Shadow

Huda Beauty Matte & Metal Shadow in Minted & Dinero* (£22)

Every time that I go to Boots I lust after the Huda Beauty Matte & Metal Shadows and this colour way in particular caught my eye every time. So I knew that I had to grab this to create a showstopping look. And I couldn't believe how quick and easy these liquid shadows were to use.

Starting with the matte shade, I used this all over the lid to add impact. I then went in with the gorgeous sparkly shade to add a pop to the eyes. And I really love the combination. It's bold, which is perfect for a special event, whilst also being a unique colour.

Liner

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black* (£16)

If I could only use one black liquid eyeliner for the rest of my life it would be an easy choice. Without a doubt, you cannot beat Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Eye Liner. And I wasn't even aware that you could get Stila at Boots until I placed my online order. Boots truly are hitting it out of the park at the moment when it comes to the brands that they're stocking. If you haven't paid your local Boots a visit in a while I've got a feeling you'll be blown away by the new beauty counters.

I adore how true black a shade this is and you can get a really sharp flick, if you so desire.

Lashes

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara* (£24)

One of my favourite mascaras of all time, it's actually been a few years since I've had the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in my life and makeup bag. And I am so happy to have it back. If you're looking for volume and impact when it comes to your eyelashes this is the mascara to try.

And if you're thinking about buying it, I always recommend checking to see if there are any gift sets featuring it first. Not only is it more than likely at this time of year, in the run up to Christmas. But you normally save some serious money and get extra products all for a brilliant price. And that's exactly how I bought my Better Than Sex Mascara this time. As part of the Boots Too Faced Gamer Girl Glam Star Gift I got a full size mascara, a full size eyeliner, a limited edition eyeshadow palette, a mini lip gloss and a makeup bag all for £35. When you consider the fact that the mascara itself is £24, I think you will agree that this is an unreal deal.

I really enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone with this eye look. I'm used to going rather natural with my makeup when I do wear it. But trying this out has made me want to be a whole lot braver with the colours and trends that I try.

What do you think of the overall look? What are your go-to eye products? And do you have any exciting events or parties on the horizon?
