As you will know if you have ever seen a photograph of me (like the ones here), I'm incredibly pale, freckly and a natural redhead. This means that for as long as I can remember SPF and sun protection has been something that I can't go without. And today I'm introducing you to a much loved brand that has just launched in the UK; Sun Bum.

Sun Bum started in Cocoa Beach, Florida. So they know about some serious sunshine. Plus, all of their products are vegan, sulfate free, cruelty free, gluten free, paraben free and reef friendly.

It's been somewhat uncharacteristically sunny in Scotland this spring/summer. And I have been making the most of getting out for at least one big walk a day since lockdown started. And I haven't burnt once, even when putting the SPF 30 lotion to the test.
I've been slathering this on almost every day since it arrived at my door and I could not be happier with it. Both the SPF 30 and 50 have protected me and my incredibly pale skin so well. Plus it hasn't irritated my skin or caused any SPF-related blemishes or spots to pop up either. The lotion sinks in nicely, without leaving much residue behind at all. And seriously, you simply need to try Sun Bum solely because of how good everything smells. Think coconuts and holidays away somewhere sunny, in the best way. There's not a hint of that horrible chemical-y SPF smell at all.

As much as I'm a fan of the lotions, I've certainly been reaching for the spray versions much more as summer has progressed. It just makes applying it a breeze and so quick and easy to do.
I was surprised by how fine a mist this produces, as even luxe skincare brands struggle with this. Which is why it did make me a little concerned that it wasn't covering as much as a traditional spray or lotion would. But, again, it has protected me so well that all I've seen are a few more freckles than normal. Which I'm definitely not mad about.

Now, this is ideal for taking with you on the go. Whether it's in your bag for day to day top ups or somewhere far more exciting. This makes keeping on top of your sun protection so easy to do.
Knowing that it won't leak inside my luggage or in my handbag means that it will now 100% be my go-to SPF when it comes to holidays or day trips. It also doesn't leave a stickiness or oiliness to the skin, like other roll ons or face sticks often do. And it smells just like those foamy banana sweets that I used to love when I was little.
Sun Bum SPF 30 Coconut Lip Balm (£4.99)
Even though I am quite good at remembering to apply sun protection to my face, neck and ears, I never apply it to my lips. Which seems quite silly considering how thin the skin is on that part of your body. I would never think of slathering sun cream on my lips, as that would not be a pleasant experience at all. So I am really happy to now have a dedicated lip balm to do just that.
It isn't your typical lip balm, which makes sense given that it is designed to protect your lips from the sun. This means that it is a lot oilier or greasier than traditional lip balm sticks. But I wouldn't let that put you off too much. It also smells glorious, like the whole range does. But if coconut isn't your thing, they also sell the lip balm in watermelon. And other flavours, like cherry, abroad.
Those are just some of the products that are now available to buy in the UK. I'm hoping that they'll be bringing the range of hair products that they sell internationally here too. But until then, here's what I definitely want to try next from the brand;
