Last year Dermalogica released their Prisma Protect SPF30, which I reviewed here. And this year they're adding a new SPF to their range; the Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defense Defence SPF30*. Priced at £49 for 50ml, I was obviously keen to start putting this to the test immediately. Especially since the sun has been making more of an appearance, which sounds about right given the fact that we are spending most of our day indoors as a result of the lockdown.
If you don't already wear an SPF on a daily basis (I am definitely guilty of this when it's grey or rainy), it could make the biggest difference when it comes to avoiding premature aging. And I've put many to the test over the years.
Trying to find one that doesn't break me out in spots and blemishes or leave a really visible white cast can be tricky. But this new SPF from Dermalogica promises to do just that.

So here are some reasons why you should definitely try out Dermalogica's Invisible Physical Defense SPF30;

Say goodbye to thick, white residue
I am paler than pale and most facial SPFs look stark white on me, even when I've tried to rub them in a bit. So I can only imagine how much of a problem this is for anyone darker than me. And when I do start rubbing a thick white SPF in, I begin to wonder if it's actually doing what it's meant to once I've made it dissipate.
This, on the other hand, truly looks like I'm wearing nothing at all. I've had moisturisers that have given me more of a white cast than this. If you check out the Dermalogica website, you can see it on different skin tones. But I am definitely impressed by how invisible this actually is.
Blue light protection
We probably don't think about it but blue light from laptops, phones, tablets and other electronics can damage the skin. And I've never tried another SPF that names this type of light as one that it protects against.
If, like me, you spend a lot of time in front of screens throughout the day for work or during the evening when you're relaxing, this is definitely something to check out. It also protects against UVA and UVB rays and even though I normally opt for at least SPF50 when I'm on holiday or out in prolonged sunshine, SPF30 should be totally fine for everyday wear.
Works on all skin types, even sensitive
My skin can get quite sensitive and because of this probably about 90% of all facial SPFs that I've tried in the past have resulted in breakouts. This has bioactive mushroom extract which is supposed to soothe the skin, particularly if it is on the dry side. And it is meant to reduce UV-induced redness. I will say, this does feel lovely and soothing on the skin and not heavy either, which is again pretty rare when it comes to facial SPFs.
It also includes antioxidant green tea to help fight free-radical skin damage, which I'm not entirely sure how to measure. But so far I've not had any issues as a result of using this. The fact that no huge or under the skin spots or blemishes have popped up gives this a resounding yes from me.
The Invisible Physical Defense SPF30 also contains no artificial fragrances or colours, is vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free and paraben-free.
Have you struggled to find a facial SPF that actually works for you? What do you think of the sound of this product? And have you ever tried anything from Dermalogica before?
