As someone who's a bit of a magpie, I love as much glitter and shimmer that I can get my hands on. As you will see in today's blog post. So much so that after doing only a couple of swatches my arms and hands were completely covered in shimmery and glittery goodness.
I thought that I would share some of my favourite Christmas and New Year's party makeup picks and break it down into separate categories. And here they are;
Highlight
Let's start with the one category that can take you from day to night in an instant; highlight. And trust me when I say that there are so many incredible ones to choose from this year.
The following are my absolute favourites, that have so much pigment and shimmer, adding stunning luminosity to the skin.
KIKO's limited edition Holiday and Party collections are exactly what you'd expect and so much more. Plus the prices are incredible! In the Magical Holiday collection you'll find both a liquid highlighter and a compact powder highlighter. Whereas the Party All Night collection takes highlight to a whole different level with their jelly highlighters. These are so creamy and blendable and the texture is completely unique to anything else that I've ever tried.
But for me, the dreamiest highlight this year has got to be the Bobbi Brown Luxe Illuminating Powder in Golden Hour. I mean, would you look at that packaging! This is one of the products that I don't actually want to delve my fingers into because it's so beautiful. But when you do, this gives the loveliest sheen to the skin.
And then diego dalla palma's is more of a perfecting base powder, with added glow. But I just had to include it in today's blog post because of how amazing the design is. Plus look at it paired with the Bobbi Brown powder!
This year I discovered a blusher and highlighter combo in the form of Bobbi Brown's Sunset Glow Highlighter. And now I'm not sure that I could go back to a regular matte blush. Maybe I'll change my tune come the springtime. But until then, I just love how much it brightens my paler complexion.
Pixi's collaboration with From Head To Toe in the shade Wednesdays gives you the perfect pop of pink. Whereas this peachy tone in the Makeup Revolution Rose Quartz Highligher Palette would work well on so many different skin tones.
Eyes
My favourite time to add to my eyeshadow collection has got to be the run up to Christmas as there are my superb limited edition releases.
Bobbi Brown have added so many spectacular eyeshadow palettes to their Christmas collection this year (keep an eye out for a top 5 palettes to buy this Christmas blog post coming next month, for more on that) and the In A Flash Palette gives you grown up shimmer. The navy shades, in particular, make for such a winning combination. Whilst there are lots of neutral daytime looks that you could put together too.
And I also adore this warm toned trio, again from KIKO's mesmerising Magical Holiday collection.
But without a doubt, my favourite eyeshadow find of this year, comes from Bobbi Brown in the form of the Luxe Eye Shadow in Heat Ray, which is available all year round. Whilst Citrine (on the right) and Opal Moonstone (in the middle) are part of the limited edition Christmas collection and absolute must buys in my opinion!

Last but not least you've got to make sure that your party makeup lasts all night, which is why a setting spray is essential. I've been trying the Cherry Truffle Makeup Fixing Spray from Makeup Revolution and have been really impressed thus far. Plus it doesn't hurt that it smells exactly as you would expect!

I think we can all agree that these beauty brands have really hit it out of the park this year, party-wise.
