After pretty much wearing the same scent (Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream) for years now. I was keen to really switch up my perfume collection for the hopefully warmer months. And this Summer has been a great one for fab new fragrance releases. So I thought that I would share 5 fantastic Summer fragrances to check out now;
Marc Jacobs Daisy Love Eau So Sweet EDT
(£44 for 30ml - £57 for 50ml - £79 for 100ml)
First up we have my favourite from these Summer fragrances. And surprise, surprise it's another Marc Jacobs Daisy incarnation. But this is completely different to my one true love Daisy Dream. I liked the Daisy Love scent when it was released last year (see my review here) but not enough to swap it for my actual Daisy love. But this just screams sugary sweetness, in the best way and I absolutely adore it!
The bottle, as well, is just absolutely stunning. If you're already a fan of the Marc Jacobs Daisy or Daisy Love range, I would definitely recommend checking this one out. It's perfect for the warmer months and if you like sweet scents, this could very well be your new favourite, like it is mine.
Huda Beauty Kayali Musk 12 EDP
(£67 for 50ml - £84 for 100ml)
When paying the new Huda Beauty counter a visit at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh, what surprised me the most was that the one product that I couldn't get out of my mind was actually one of Huda's four Kayali perfumes, specifically the Musk 12 scent. So much so that I simply couldn't leave Edinburgh without it.
It's hard to explain, as describing perfume in writing often is but it is just the dreamiest scent. It's musk but not an overwhelming amount. There's a warmth to it and the musk, floral and vanilla notes blend beautifully. It can even become quite powdery at times, a smell that I really love. It's definitely more of nighttime fragrance for me and one for special occasions but that's why it simply had to join my collection this Summer.
CLEAN Reserve Solar Bloom EDP*
(£82 for 100ml)
After having fun wearing a few different CLEAN Reserve fragrances last Summer thanks to their Layering Collection (review here), I was really intrigued when a bottle of their brand new scent Solar Bloom arrived at my door.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first read the name of this perfume but if you could bottle up that 'holiday smell', this would be it. But it also doesn't smell like any other perfume or fragrance that I've smelled before either. There are citrus notes, with a beautiful coconut heart to it and hints of floral notes like orange blossom. And as I mentioned above, you can also layer CLEAN's fragrances, which only enhances the original notes and allows you to create your very own signature scents.
TOCCA Gia EDP
(£68 for 50ml - £98 for 100ml)
TOCCA is a brand that I first spotted in Sephora when I was over in the US a few years ago but their fragrances are now available here in the UK at Harvey Nichols and Liberty London. I'm already looking forward to trip down to London so I can give the full range a sniff when I visit Liberty.
Before you even open it, the first thing that catches your eye is the bottle. I mean, it's a work of art! It immediately reminded me of a bottle that you would see sat proudly on some fabulous woman's dressing table in the 1920's. The ornate and intricate cap in particular is just absolutely stunning. But back to the scent itself, Gia, inspired by the artist Georgia O'Keefe, is a fruity rose based scent. I instantly smelled tangerines and peppercorns and something similar to Lush's Rose Jam scent when I first sniffed it. Honestly, if you ever find yourself somewhere where they sell TOCCA fragrances, make a definite beeline for them to give them a spritz. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Kenzo Flower By Kenzo Eau De Vie EDP*
(£41 for 30ml - £59 for 50ml)
I've got to admit, I'd actually never given the Kenzo Flower fragrances a try before but after being introduced to this at a recent press meeting, it now has my immediate attention.
Again, this wasn't what I was originally expecting when I read the name, as I thought it would be really floral but instead it's powdery and clean with a subtle sweetness to it. It's a lovely daytime scent in my opinion and I like it so much that I'm going to save it for my next trip away so that whenever I smell or spritz this it will immediately bring all the holiday memories back.
So those are my top picks for Summer fragrances.
