how does beauty pie work

As I've gotten older, I've shifted from buying makeup on a regular basis to preferring to invest in all things skincare related. And a brand that has long intrigued me is Beauty Pie. Now, they don't just sell skincare. You'll find makeup, haircare, bodycare, fragrance and even candles. But the products that have interested me the most have got to be from the skincare range. If you've been asking yourself questions such as how does Beauty Pie work? Or is it worth the membership? Be sure to keep reading.

So here is what I thought of my very first Beauty Pie delivery. As well as the whole process of ordering from them;

is beauty pie worth it

How does Beauty Pie work?

I will start by saying that you do need to commit to three months minimum, when it comes to a Beauty Pie membership. But I took advantage of a discount code that they shared on their social media, to get my first month for free.

When it comes to membership there are four options; three monthly amounts and one annual amount, which are as follows;

£5 a month = shop up to £50 a month (plus a £50 bonus on your first month)

£10 a month = shop up to £100 a month (plus a £100 bonus on your first month)

£20 a month = shop up to £200 a month (plus a £150 bonus on your first month)

£99 a year = shop up to £100 a month (plus a £100 bonus on your first month)

For me, the £10 a month option or £99 a year if you're planning on using it for the full year, since you essentially get two months for free, is the best option.

Beauty Pie also have something that they call PIEDAYS. These are days during your membership month when you can shop for certain products without using up your spending limit. You get PIEDAYS with all membership tiers and double the amount for members with the annual membership.

What I tried

After a lot of research, probably about six months of reading reviews and blog posts if I'm being honest. I placed and received my very first Beauty Pie order.

And here's what I chose for my first month;

Beauty Pie Triple Hyaluronic Acid Lipopeptide Serum (Member Price £15.85 - Typical Price £60)

Hyaluronic acid has long been a buzz word in the beauty/skincare world. So I was desperate to see how good a 'triple' hyaluronic acid serum could be. First of all, this is easily the best textured hyaluronic acid product that I have tried thus far. Normally they can be a bit sticky or tacky but this wasn't, which was a welcome surprise. It sinks into the skin quickly and works well in tandem with other products.

My skin feels softer after using it. And you only really need a little, which is perfectly dispensed from the pump, as well. I now get why everyone always raves about this product when talking about Beauty Pie. My only slight misgiving; it usually comes in a pretty pink bottle. But given the current circumstances, the batch that mine came from was the original white bottle. But it's only aesthetics really.

Beauty Pie Fruitizyme AHA Resurfacing Five Minute Facial (Member Price £10.24 - Typical Price £60)

As someone with uneven skin texture, I'm always looking to try new chemical and physical exfoliants. Now, this immediately reminded me of the Kiehl's Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-dermabrasion (see my review here). But obviously at a fraction of the price. Particularly when you consider the price of this, I am a big, big fan of this product. I love the ingredients and this really does get rid of any texture/dry patches. If you are looking for naturally glowing skin, this is certainly one product to try out. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Beauty Pie Super Retinol (+Vitamin C Night Renewal Moisturizer) (Member Price £10.83 - Typical Price £75)

This was another product that had long piqued my interest, even though retinols can be a little scary if you're not used to them. When I saw the word super, I assumed that this would be super intensive. So I was pleasantly surprised that this moisturiser is actually super gentle instead. I didn't experience any redness either, which I was prepared for.

On days when I don't use this, my skin does look duller the following day. And if you're someone who's into their skincare ingredients, definitely check out the Beauty Pie website to see why this is as gentle as it is. However, if you are expecting a super charged retinol, that technically isn't what you're getting with this product.

Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin Nourishing Body Polish (Member Price £15.76 - Typical Price £40)

I've been in two minds about trying the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Scrub but the £39 price tag is more than a little bit eye watering. So I decided to give this one from Beauty Pie a try after hearing great reviews. And I definitely like this body polish. It doesn't irritate my keratosis pilaris/dehydrated skin and appears to be the more hydrating of the two body polishes that Beauty Pie do. The skin on my legs and arms has been pretty transformed by this. Plus, it smells delicious and incredibly fresh. I'm so glad that it lives up to the hype.

Is it worth the membership fee?

I worked it out like this, on the £10 a month membership level, if I buy 4 products per month, this is basically like adding £2.50 to the price of each product that I buy. So for the 4 products in today's blog post, I didn't spend more than £20 on any product, which feels like a good deal to me.

As I mentioned above, I did a crazy amount of research before deciding on these particular products so they were 100% worth the money and membership for me. If you're taking more of a gamble on products that you're not sure on, this might not be the case. I would always recommend checking out the reviews of a particular product before pressing buy, as a lot of people have reviewed each individual product on the Beauty Pie site, which is super helpful.

Something that did surprise me, when I was adding products to my basket, was that your allowance is based on the typical price and not the member price. So say you add the Nourishing Body Polish (Typical Price £40) and the Five Minute Facial (Typical Price £60), that's your £100 allowance used up.

Your unused spending limits do roll over to your next month of membership. So you can save up for certain items. Or if the item(s) you're hoping to buy are out of stock. You can also upgrade your membership if you need to as well. But I just didn't realise until I started adding to my basket how quickly your allowance can go.

The member pricing to typical pricing ratio also doesn't quite make sense to me. For example, the Super Retinol has a Typical Price of £75 but a Member Price of £10.83. Whereas the Body Polish has a £40 Typical Price but a Member Price of £15.76. So it doesn't necessarily mean that the higher the Typical Price value the higher you will pay as a member, which is a bit bizarre. I guess it just depends what you're hoping to buy with your monthly allowance.

But if you do your research and shop smartly, Beauty Pie is certainly worth the membership.

Have you tried Beauty Pie before? If so, what are your favourite products? And what do you think of what I tried?
