self care at home spa

Being stuck at home doesn’t mean that you can’t look after yourself. There are plenty of things that you can do to take care of your body but also your well-being. And it doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult to put in place. In fact, I’ve put together a list of things/activities, that I feel could help you make the most of this situation and practice self care at home;

A spa at home

If you’re a lover of a good spa day with the girls, then don’t feel discouraged, there are still ways you can take care of your body while respecting the lockdown. If you’re lucky enough to have a bath, treat yourself to a bath bomb/bubble bath and put on a nice face mask. Not only will it help you to feel more relaxed, it can give your skin a much needed boost. I even have a blog post on how to treat yourself to a Lush Spa foot treatment at home.

Carry on as normal

Doing your hair and makeup can really be a lifesaver if you’re craving some routine! Actually, makeup doesn’t have to be fancy. You could just add a bit of mascara and that’s it, no need for glitter or fancy eyeshadows, unless you want to. Haircare, however, can be trickier. Treating overgrown roots may mean that you need to dye your own hair or invest in some pretty headbands to cover it. If your fringe is getting out of control, you could trim it yourself, although make sure that you own a good pair of hairdressing scissors to avoid a catastrophe!

Bake!

Who doesn’t love a freshly baked cake? I know I do! Baking is great to release stress and to occupy your mind if you’re feeling overwhelmed. You don’t have to be a MasterChef or Bake Off contestant; all you need is a simple recipe, some bakeware and ingredients to start.

Why not join the masses and try making a banana loaf? Pretty simple and delicious. However, if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you could try a vegan cake or a more complicated one to test your baking skills.

Keep on movin'

You don’t have to do a full hour of workout every day however doing stretches, some yoga or even a quick 15-minute walk could make a massive difference to your body and also to your mental health. Working out has been proven to release endorphins and create a sensation of happiness. Don’t worry too much if you’re not feeling it. It’s more than fine to just relax all day, it’s important to listen to your body.

How have you been looking after yourself physically and mentally during lockdown? And have you tried baking or having a mini spa day at home?
