Summer can often be the perfect excuse to give our makeup bags and bathroom cabinets a well needed reshuffle. And I've found some great Summer beauty buys that you need to know about.
SHOP THE POST
So here my top Summer beauty buys for 2019, along with a little giveaway towards the end of the blog post;
Skincare
REN Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30* (£30)
As a fair freckly redhead, I'm always on the lookout for new facial SPFs to try out. So when REN asked if I'd like to put their new mineral based one to the test I welcomed it with open arms.
Most importantly, this didn't break me out, which is the main thing that I look for a facial SPF not to do. It is quite thick and can cling to drier patches or area of skin. But I do think that this would be perfect for those of us with oilier skin. It's a true matte sunscreen and can leave a bit of a white cast. Which is why I tend to use it on days when I'm going makeup free. And this is basically every single day when I'm on holiday.

Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme (£30)
Now that Ole Henriksen is available at Boots, here in the UK, I simply had to give this much raved about eye cream a try. I actually contemplated buying it when I was in the US at the start of May, after being recommended it by quite a few Sephora employees. But I decided to wait so that I could earn my Boots Advantage Card Points. I'm all about accumulating those £'s off!
If you have dark circles or discolouration around your eyes, I would certainly steer you in the direction of this particular eye cream. It has a degree of luminousity to it. So even when you're wearing it on its own your under eyes look brighter. If you have drier under eyes, like I do, it works to hydrate and plump. And I can actually see a big difference. I don't normally notice any visible changes when I've tried eye creams in the past. But I noticed straight away with this one. It also smells incredible, which makes me want to reach for it day after day. And it is a perfect base to apply makeup or concealer over.
If you're thinking about trying it but don't want to fork out for the full size, there are two brilliant value sets (the Let's Get Luminous and C Your Best Selfie respectively). Both include the Banana Bright Eye Creme and a few other Ole Henriksen minis.
Lumene Invisible Illumination Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint in Universal Light* (£32.90)
This is actually the first Lumene product that I've ever tried, after Feel Unique sent this out for me to try. But I have a feeling that it won't be the last. This is the product that I will now be taking with me on every holiday going forward as I don't tend to wear any makeup when I'm abroad.
This leaves your skin looking glowing, as the name might denote. It doesn't add a significant tint to the skin but somehow blurs imperfections and makes you look incredibly fresh faced, like you've just had a facial. It's also available in four different shades, making it the perfect holiday companion this Summer and any time that you might be going away.
GLAMGLOW COOLSHEET No-Drip Hydrating Mask* (£10)
I love a good face mask and often pop one on in the Summer months when I'm struggling to stay cool and this new launch by GLAMGLOW has been designed specifically to cool you and your skin down.
It reminded me a bit of Charlotte Tilbury's Dry Sheet Mask as it isn't sopping wet, like many other sheet masks. The mask made an evening during the mini heatwave so much more pleasant and my skin felt lovely and hydrated afterward as well.

Makeup
Fenty Beauty BAEWATCH Vivid Liquid Eyeliner Trio* (£27)
I've got a feeling that you will have seen this eyeliner trio all over social media this Summer and with good reason! The neon shades are insanely pigmented and would be perfect for festivals, parties and holidays this Summer. There are three different shade combinations to choose from. There's this trio, known as BAEWATCH (you've gotta love that play on words!) and two others, BAECAE and BAESIDE. I may or may not have my eye on the BAECAE trio.
Again, you'll find this particular set along with the whole Fenty Beauty range at Boots, so you can earn or put your Advantage Card points toward it. Is it just me or are Boots starting to feel more and more like Sephora?!
Kat Von D Go Big Or Go Home Volumizing Mascara (£20)
A new release for Summer 2019, Kat Von D's first foray into mascara is what is says on tube. I originally tried a little sample of this when I attended the St. Enoch Summer Selfie Store event and simply had to pick up the full size from Debenhams in the Centre the following month.
I've heard mixed reviews about it but I really like it for when I'm going all out with my lashes. I would compare it to Benefit's BADGAL Bang, which I reviewed here but I would have to say that I prefer the Kat's.
Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation (£26)
Speaking of Benefit, I do like their new Hello Happy Brightening Foundation. Adding to the Hello Happy foundation range (I previously reviewed the original), there is also a new powder and then this new liquid.
It comes with SPF 15 built in, making it great for taking in your holiday makeup bag. It's also lightweight and natural looking so you don't look caked in product. I definitely prefer letting my skin breathe and look more natural in the warmer months and I was glad that I tried this one out. I think I may even prefer it to the original. And whilst discussing Benefit, they have some great sets for Summer, like this one.
Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm in Bare Glow (£45)
If you prefer to go completely sans foundation in the warmer months, this balm from Bobbi Brown will be right up your street. Much like the Lumene product, this just makes your skin look so healthy and even. It uses ultra fine pearl pigments to give you that luminous look without looking too shiny. You can also wear this as a base or a primer underneath your foundation. I absolutely love it, even though it's not one of the first products that immediately springs to mind when you think Bobbi Brown.

Pop Beauty Prismatic Pop Illuminating Powder in Stellar Light* (£16)
A few weeks ago I was introduced to Pop Beauty, the sister brand of Pixi Beauty, who have just launched at Superdrug here in the UK. And they have some products to get seriously excited about!
This gorgeous highlighter was one of my favourites from the range and it really packs a punch. Available in an array of beautiful colours, I'm already tempted to try the Royal Rose shade to wear as a blush/highlighter hybrid. If you haven't heard of Pop Beauty before, you definitely need to check them out!
Fenty Beauty Poutsicle in Alpha Doll* (£18)
If you love a bold lip or a pop of colour in the Summer months, say hello to the new Fenty Beauty Poutsicles! With pinks, purples, blues, orange and red to choose from, you can instantly update any makeup look. The pigment is unreal and how cute is the packaging?!
Urban Decay Summer Solstice All Nighter Setting Spray (£10-24)
My very favourite setting spray has been given a limited edition Summer makeover and not just the packaging has had a refresh. It's scented and smells just like Summer holidays!
Keep reading to see how you can win your very own Summer Solstice setting spray.
OPI All Your Dreams In Vending Machines Nail Lacquer* (£13.50)
After having a manicure at PURE Spa when I was Edinburgh (see the full blog post here), I've made a promise to myself to take better care of my nails and this polish from OPI's Spring collection has been doing just that. I'm always a big fan of pink or purple shades but there are some lovely pastel colours in the Tokyo collection as well.

Body
REN AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum (£35)
I suffer from keratosis pilaris, which is a condition where I basically have a goosebump-like texture to my arms and legs all year round. I try my best to physically exfoliate but it soon comes back. If you're looking for super smooth skin this Summer, you've simply got to try this out!
I actually can't believe the results after putting this to the test for a few weeks and I have a feeling that I've found a product that I'll be using for life now.
Diego Dalla Palma Glow Mist* (£22.50)
And to top things off we have this limited edition Glow Mist from Diego Dalla Palma. You normally use this as a setting spray, a bit like the Urban Decay one but I will be using this all over on my next trip away. Imagine how good this would look with a tan! It's just absolutely goregous!
