As the weather gets that bit warmer and the sun starts to make more of a regular appearance. I'm more inclined than ever to ditch the make-up and go barefaced. But on those days when a little bit of coverage is needed, I head straight for some of the best summer foundations I've tried. And here they are;
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Opal (01) £20.80
Now there was no way that I could write a post on the best summer foundations without featuring one of the biggest and most universally lauded product releases of the year; bareMinerals Complexion Rescue. When there is that much hype and excitement surrounding a product or anything really. It took me years to finally start watching Breaking Bad despite countless recommendations. I'm always a little cautious. But when I was given the opportunity to try out Complexion Rescue I immediately understood why it was as hyped as it is.
This has such a wonderful formula. It's a gel-like cream which hydrates the skin in ways that I never imagined possible from a base product like this. It leaves you with a "my skin but better" look which is exactly what I want from a Summer foundation. It also has an SPF of 30 which is fantastic. This is one product that I'll be wearing all year round. It's just that good! All I need to do now is invest in the bareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush to see what effect that has on application.
Vichy Idealia BB Cream in Light £16.28
For me Vichy really are on the top of their game when it comes to lighter bases. And both of their BB creams in today's post are really impressive. The Idealia BB has an SPF of 25 and gives you light to medium coverage. A little more coverage than some of the other bases featured today. For all of you pale girls out there, like myself, this is actually pretty light. Which is always a bonus as just because a base product says light or fair doesn't necessarily mean that it is light enough for some of us. With a bit of blending this leaves me looking healthy and as though I've gotten a little bit of sun, which is never a bad thing.
pur minerals CC Cream in Light* £25
Whilst pur minerals are a brand that I haven't dabbled with before, I've got a feeling that I'm going to need to place a significant order after trying out this CC Cream. This CC provides you with an SPF of 40 and leaves your skin with more of a matte finish than any of the other bases featured in this particular post. I also really appreciate the pump applicator. I don't get why it's not mandatory for beauty products such as foundations, body lotions and haircare to have a pump applicator. It just makes things much less messy for me.
Vichy Ideal Soleil BB Tinted Velvety Cream* £15.50
For me this is my absolute favourite out of the bunch. As an incredibly pale redhead I'm normally plastered in the highest factor of sun protection (more on that in two Sunday's time), so to see a BB Cream with an unbelievable SPF 50+ really did make me smile. Applying sun tan lotion to my face is never all that pleasant despite being completely necessary but with this base I can give my face a bit of colour at the same time as making sure that I am properly protected from the sun. The finish is light yet lovely and silky and it really does leave your skin feeling incredibly hydrated. I will definitely be taking this BB with me on my next holiday which I now know will be Florida again next year. I'm already counting down the days!
Maybelline Dream Bronze BB in Light/Medium* £6.99
Another incredibly impressive BB which comes in two different shade varieties, Light/Medium and Medium/Dark, this takes the notion of BB creams to the next level as it has a wonderful bronzing quality to it. If you're looking for something to transform you into a bronzed goddess with minimal effort this Summer then look no further than Maybelline's Dream Bronze BB. And it's not a sparkly or glittery bronze, like you might imagine it to be. It immediately warms the complexion and leaves you with a gorgeous glow. And then when you add into the equation that it has an SPF of 25, this couldn't be a more perfect Summer base.
Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation in Ivory (10) £5.99
And last but not least, one more major hit from Maybelline. Despite this being a foundation instead of a BB or CC cream, this still falls into the category of summer bases for me anyway. It's incredibly light yet it provides a fantastic amount of coverage. This is the one that I reach for, out of those included, when I'm looking for a bit more coverage or when I'm having a bit of a bad skin day, either with blemishes or redness. This really does leave me with a flawless finish and there's also a much wider array of shades to choose from, unlike with the CC's and BB's. If you haven't checked this foundation out yet I cannot urge you to do so enough.

So those are some of my picks when it comes to the best summer foundations.
What would be your best summer foundations? What do you think of the ones that I've included in today's post? And have you tried any of them out?
