If you know me, you know that I am very much a bookish kind of individual. I mean, I grew up with a book in my hand, studied English Literature at University, always have a frankly ambitious Goodreads goal, chair bookish events at Waterstones and even started my own book club. So, it's not too surprising that I was drawn to this year's Poetcore fashion trend.
Leaning into the literary aesthetic, just in time for autumn/winter, think layering in the form of oversized knits, chunky loafers and chic ballet shoes, alongside tailored trousers, structured skirts and a trench coat. And Very.co.uk have everything you might need to embrace and interpret the trend yourself.
Which is why, today I'm taking you on a bookish day out in Glasgow to showcase my new Poetcore-inspired outfit from Very.co.uk. As well as sharing why I love shopping at one place, and without having to leave the comfort of home (which is especially timely now that it's getting colder, blusterier and slightly less appealing to head out to the shops in person).

A trip to The Last Bookstore
One spot that I always recommend to anyone visiting Glasgow is The Last Bookstore. I mean, just look at it! Whether you grab your latest read and pop in for a coffee or hot chocolate, or make a night of it by ordering food and drinks, including some of their brilliantly themed bookish cocktails, it's the perfect spot to catch up with friends or take some time to yourself. And, of course, it also makes for a great photo op, if I do say so myself. Which brings me onto my Poetcore-inspired outfit.

Now, I know that ballet flats have been increasingly popular again in recent months/years, but I've been waiting to invest in a pair that will last me many seasons, instead of a trendier pair. Which is why I simply couldn't resist Fitflop's Delicato Mary Janes. With cushioned support inside, they have the comfort that I've come to know and expect from Fitflop. While still looking incredibly chic thanks to the leather snake effect. And as they're black, they should go with so many outfits all year round.

I've also really gotten into wearing skirts this year, as you might have spotted if you've seen me in person or follow me on Instagram. And this faux leather skirt from New Look elevates any outfit, while giving a bit of a literary vibe. I know it will look equally incredible paired with a t-shirt or light knit as it will a chunkier sweater or this wrap jumper.

And the great thing is, I was spoiled for choice when it came to the different brands, products and trends. As someone who doesn't love going to a hundred and one shops in person, only to discover that what I'm looking for isn't in stock or in my size, I love that I can shop so many great brands and products all in one place on Very.co.uk.

Top tip, if you're a New Look shopper like me -- the same can be said for quite a few brands like Mango, River Island and Levi's -- I often find that if a specific size or item has sold out on their own website, you're much more likely to find stock on Very.co.uk -- and often at a discount -- if you're hunting something down. Let's just say, knowing this has come in handy quite a few times for me.
I'll definitely be adding a few more Poetcore and literary inspired pieces to my wardrobe in the coming months. For example, I've already got my eye on quite a few Argyle knits and maybe even something cord.

Bookshop browsing
Of course, it wouldn't be a bookish day out without a trip to a bookshop or two. And with the leaves starting to fall and the days and evenings feeling much crisper, it's definitely gotten me in the mood to pick up some dark academia, as well as cosy stories and gripping thrillers.

What I've been reading recently has been very hit or miss, as you may know if you follow me on Instagram or Goodreads. But I'm hoping now that the seasons are starting to shift and a good number of new books have been released in recent weeks, that I'm due a few more 4 or 5 star reads.
What is your style like over the autumn/winter months? Have you ever been inspired by literature when it comes to what you wear or your personal style? And what would your dream bookish day out look like?
