Space NK Travel Bag

Every time that I travel I try to learn from what worked and what didn't, especially when it comes to my packing routine. And since many of us might be heading off on our Summer holidays. I thought that I would share some of the travel sized beauty bits that you should seriously consider taking with you this year. And as soon as I saw this beautiful Space NK travel bag, I knew that I had to have it. It immediately reminded me of the iconic but crazy pricey Anya Hindmarch In-Flight Case. But at a fraction of the price.

Does anyone else get more than a little bit excited about buying some of your favourite products in dinky little travel sized versions? Or trying out brands and products that you've always wanted to, without having to pay for the full size first?

If I'm travelling hand luggage only, a clear airport and airline approved bag is essential. And this Space NK travel bag is just so stylish and sleek.

So let's see what I managed to fit in that bag and the other travel sized beauty essentials that you should seriously consider taking with you on your next trip, plus a little Urban Decay giveaway that you'll find below;

travel skincare essentials

Some of the essentials

I like to keep my skincare pretty minimal when I travel with cleansing, moisturising and protecting my skin from the elements and sun damage at the top of my list. The Fresh Soy Cleanser is such a great skincare staple to have. It's one of my favourite to use even if I'm not wearing makeup. And it just leaves my skin feeling so clean and soft. It's also now available from World Duty Free, either at London Heathrow or online, ready for you to pick up before your flight. I've been testing out the REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream* for a good few weeks now. And it feels so nice on my sensitive skin. It soothes the skin without feeling greasy at all. The fact that it's also well under the 100ml liquids restriction is an added bonus. You also can't forget sun protection, no matter where you're heading. So I always make sure to have my travel bag ready to go with this La Roche-Posay favourite of mine (see full review here) in it along with some other essentials, ones that you'll see directly below.

I picked up a 10ml rollerball version of my favourite perfume, Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream, when I was last at Sephora. But Boots also do the same travel friendly sizes a bit closer to home. If you're only going somewhere for a few nights or want to try out a particular fragrance before splurging on it or picking it up from Duty Free on the way to or home from your holiday, I'd definitely recommend picking up a box from Latest In Beauty. They have lots of great sample sizes. And unlike at the drugstores or supermarkets, you won't pay a ridiculous price for the smaller sizes. I got the Missguided Babe Power sample, as seen in my travel bag above, in their brilliant Fabulous Beauty Awards box, which is just £20 for £78 of value.

Adorable little minis

I have a few absolute essentials when it comes to any form of travel. And that is Pixi's Glow Tonic To Go Pads, dry shampoo and the niftiest little travel razor from Gillette.

If you're a fan of Pixi's iconic Glow Tonic already, this tub makes it so easy to travel with. You get sixty pre-soaked pads. And unlike a lot of other similar pads, these really are saturated with product. If you travel a lot or spend nights away from home or even just go to the gym regularly, you simply need the Gilette Venus Snap Razor in your life! It is so handy, portable and effective. It also comes in its own little protective case to stop it from doing any damage to the rest of your luggage.

And of course, dry shampoo is a must-have! If you're in a rush or just feel a bit gross after travelling all day/night, it saves you so much time and hassle. I'm a big fan of IGK's Jet Lag Dry Shampoo. After what felt like an entirety waiting for it to come to the UK (it's now in Space NK just in case you didn't already know). And I also picked up a pack of their Swipe Up Dry Shampoo Towelettes. They're basically little bits of waxy paper with dry shampoo built in that you can just swipe over any oily or greasy patches.

Speaking of IGK Hair...

OUAI Wave Spray Review

Hair styling

I tend not to waste any of the precious space in my luggage on bringing my usual shampoo and conditioner with me. I either pick up a cheap bottle of each if I'm away for over a week. Or I use the ones provided by the hotel. Instead I take some styling products, which are particularly helpful if you're air drying your hair. Or if you don't have access to straighteners etc. in your room. I picked up these two products from Space NK when I bought the travel bag itself. And both sound really interesting. The IGK Coconut Oil Gel and the OUAI Wave Spray both look like great matches for my hair type. And the hair that I would ideally like to have on holiday.

I'm definitely excited to put both to the test on my next trip away later in the year.

Kiehl's Travel Size

I like to take a few treats with me for any nights that I spend away. If there's a bath, it's always nice to take a fancy bubble bath or even a bath bomb to really reap the rewards of a night away. This time, however, I took two masks; one for my hair and one for my face. I took a travel size of my favourite Kiehl's mask, the Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque. I also took the HASK Coconut Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner. It was another fabulous (pardon the pun) product from the Latest In Beauty Beauty Awards box.

As for body products, most hotels provide you with body wash and/or soap. So I normally don't like to waste too much room by bringing them with me either. But I have been loving the Kiehl's Creme de Corps Smoothing Oil To Foam Body Cleanser. So much so that it came with me on my last overnight stay. And it will now reside in my travel beauty bag ready for my next trip.

travel makeup bag essentials

Makeup must-haves

A lot of the time I'll just take the most basic of makeup bags on holiday with me. This is particularly true if it's somewhere hot and sunny. But to be fair, as long as I've got some form of concealer, mascara and at least one lip product, I'm happy.

I have the following travel makeup bag packed and ready to go in my hand luggage, ready for my next trip. And here's what you'll find in it;

There's the brilliant Bobbi Brown Corrector* (seriously, I LOVE this stuff - see my full review here). Maybelline's latest mascara launch; the Falsies Volum'Express*. The gorgeous new travel sized palette from Zoeva (look at those beautiful shades!). My favourite Glossier Generation G Lipstick (it's Crush for reference). Glossier's Birthday Balm dot com (I always have at least one of these in my bag at all times). And Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray*.

Zoeva Voyager Travel Brush Set

Travel size brushes

This new travel brush set from Zoeva is honestly a godsend! I already have and use a Charlotte Tilbury Mini Makeup Brush Set. But have been wanting to try Zoeva's brushes for some time. This was the perfect opportunity to do so. And it included all of the brushes that I wanted to try from them, in mini form. They also come with their own little pouch. So this stops them from dirtying the rest of my products or bag.

In this Voyager Travel Brush set you get the 142 Concealer Brush, 228 Luxe Crease Brush, 243 Luxe Smoky Shader Brush and 322 Brow Liner Brush. And they are more than enough for me to do my makeup with whilst on holiday.
