Blogmas Day 16: Merry & Bright Festive Make-Up Must-Haves At Buchanan Galleries

Festive Make-Up Must-Haves

It's that time of the year when most of our normal make-up rules go right out the window and glitter, sparkles and bolder looks make more of an appearance. So when Buchanan Galleries got in touch to hear my thoughts on all things merry and bright when it comes to make-up this festive season, I had plenty of products in mind and here they are.

For those located in and around Glasgow, when it comes to beauty at Buchanan there are three shops that I could quite easily spend hours in; Boots, John Lewis and the newly opened Models Own Bottleshop. You'll be able to find all of the products mentioned in today's post in at least one of those stores this Christmas.

Festive Party Season Make-up

When I think about merry and bright make-up, what immediately came to mind was a recent purchase, one that I made by ordering online from John Lewis and picking it up in store a few days later; the Urban Decay Vice 4. For the party season, I don't think you'll find a better eyeshadow palette. The quality and pigmentation is superb and look at how many fantastic shades there are! Would you be interested in reading a stand alone blog post on the Vice 4 at some stage in the future?

To take my lashes to the next level, over the party period, a coat or two of Soap & Glory's Thick & Fast HD mascara and a pair of Eylure lashes do just that. I'm really loving the Exaggerate 156 pair and they add that false lash look without them being too over the top, if you know what I mean.

And what's the festive season without a spot of sparkle? You can either go down the understated glitter route with the Clinique Black Silver Skinny Stick Eyeliner or all out with the Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner. And to add a bit of shimmer via a brilliant highlighter, there's the Smashbox L.A. Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek colour in Hollywood & Highlight.

Party Lip Ideas

Then we have lips to think about. At the moment I'm absolutely loving the combination of Maybelline's Color Sensational Lipstick in Mystic Mauve as a base with Benefit's Rockateur Ultra Plush Lip Gloss on top. And Bourjois' Rouge Edition Aqua Laque liquid lipsticks are simply brilliant when it comes to their finish and they also come in basically every shade that you could ever want or need.

Festive Nails Christmas

Last but certainly not least, we have all things nail related. When it comes to adding a special touch to any outfit, whether that's your party dress or jeans and a t-shirt, you can't go wrong with some sparkly nails and here are three of my favourites this Christmas.

Elegant Touch always have spectacular designs all year round but this Galactica set has well and truly won my seal of approval this festive season. They're party-ready without being too over the top and they were also named colour of year by Elegant Touch too, which I certainly have to agree with.

Then we have Models Own's newly released Glitter Gel collection. Sporting glitter nails at this time of year is a bit of a no-brainer really and the Glitter Gel collection does exactly what it says on the bottle. Combining gorgeous glitters with a gel finish, these polishes are spectacular and come in a stunning range of colours that go above and beyond ones that you would expect to see at Christmas too.

And I couldn't leave Boots without picking up Nails Inc's brand new nail polish innovation; it's only spray on nail polish! It comes in two colours; Hoxton Market, a bright bubblegum pink and Shoreditch Lane, a sparkly silver. I plumped for the silver as something about silver nail polish just puts me in a festive mood. I'll be reviewing the Paint Can in full in the New Year so be sure to check back if you'd like to see how I get on with it.

What are your festive make-up product must haves this Christmas? And what do you think of my picks? Are you a fan of any of them as well?
