As some of you may or may not know, I completed my very first internship at the start of this month and I also have a few more internships and work experience placements in the works for the next couple of months. As this is the case, I've really been trying my very best to streamline what I carry around with me on a day-to-day basis so I thought that now was as good a time as any to share 'What's In My Bag' with you.

As you can see from above, my current bag of choice is the Large Bowcon Tote Bag from Ted Baker. It really is the perfect size to fit all of my regular essentials, as well as those items that are all the more necessary when completing an internship. When it comes to interning, or even starting work at a new company, the most important item in my bag has to be my notebook. I picked up this particular notebook from Sainsbury's at the start of the year and it's such a great size for keeping with you at all times. It means that I can quickly jot down anything important and keep track of different log in details and passwords, which is especially helpful when you're learning the ropes. For me anyway, it really helps me to retain information if I write it down so having a notebook in my bag is going to be something that I continue to do even if I'm not interning or in a work environment.

My Victoria's Secret PINK You Can't Drink With Us water bottle tends to come everywhere with me at the moment and it really does spark up some water-cooler moments, especially if you're dealing with a fellow Mean Girls fan. Hehe. The rest of what I've been carrying around with me is pretty typical regardless of where I'm going or what I'm doing. But what really makes this Ted Baker bag so handy for when I'm interning is the fact that I can leave a significant amount of space at the top of the bag just in case I need to dash to the Post Office with some mail or some samples to send out. And it's also nice to know that I have that bit of extra room clear at the top of the bag for when I go and do a little bit of shopping before or after I'm at the office too. Hehe.

So what do you think of 'What's In My Bag'? Are there any items that you would deem essential that I'm missing from it? Saying that though, I do think that I'm doing quite well at not carrying too much around with me these days, especially when I don't really need to. It's never a good sign when you start to get a sore shoulder from carrying around your handbag, now is it? What do you make sure to carry with you at all times?
And if you've done a 'What's In My Bag' blog post or video, please make sure to send me the link to it below and I will make sure to check it out.

  1. I looked for so long to do internships but they were all in London, mainly unpaid so they weren't any good for me :( your bag is so nice, I love the Ted Baker bags!

    1. I know exactly what you mean about them all being in London Daisy! It really is frustrating but thankfully a few have popped up in Glasgow (where I live) and I've been really fortunate to get them. Definitely try emailing companies/brands/firms near where you live to see if they need any help and that could potentially lead to something great! :)
      Thank you so much!

  2. Offices will always give you everything you need on the first day but I do think having a USB with you is one of the most useful things. Also headphones. Of course, I work in media where we're watching and listening to a lot of stuff but I think they'd be helpful in any environment.

Best of luck with all the internships!

  3. Ooooh I do love a What's In My Bag post! I myself have so many but my current favourites are my Louis Vuitton collaborations; the Yayoi Kusama and the Christian Louboutin handbags.

I love Ted Baker and your choice of handbag is so perfect - such a luxe take on the simple book bags favoured by interns and myself when I was at art school! x

  6. Ted Baker is one of my favourite brands for bags as well! Three things I always carry around with me are my phone, purse & sunglasses, as well as a few other essentials. I might do a post like this on my blog later.

  7. I'm impressed by this organisation! I wish I could learn to be so streamlined and stop carrying around year-old receipts and fluff-ridden sweets. P.S. Do you have a post on scoring internships? If not, any tips? x

    1. Hehe. If we looked in my wallet it might be a different story! ;)
I was thinking of doing a post on those kinds of things but wasn't sure if anyone would be too interested in it. I will definitely do it now Jessica! :)

  8. I love your Tangle Teezer, Ellis! I totally agree about the importance of having a notebook too, they come in so handy for writing down little notes on how to do things or who to ask if you need help, etc etc. xx

  9. I see a minimalist bag here, wish I could be so organised, my bags are always a mess and packed with all the "might needs" you can think of!
