caravanning in the UK

Now that lockdown restrictions are starting to be eased slightly, you may be thinking of holidaying within the UK this year. But you might be struggling to think of socially distant holiday ideas in Britain. And that's what inspired today's blog post. So be sure to bookmark this if you are looking for ideas this summer or even later in the year. Or if you are planning on caravanning in the UK this year.

And what better way is there to see the UK than in caravans or motorhomes? Campbells Caravans sells new and preowned Bailey caravans, with the current Bailey ranges being built with Alu-Tech construction. And there are lots of different options to choose from.

So here are some of my top socially distant holiday ideas for caravanning in the UK this year;

what to do in st andrews scotland

St Andrews

If you saw my Kohler Waters Spa Day blog post earlier in the year, you will know how much I adore St Andrews. Take a walk along West Sands Beach or play a game of golf on the iconic course. And don't forget to stop off at Cromars for some of the tastiest fish and chips. Or Janetta's Gelateria for the most incredible gelato, ice cream and sweet treats.

Gower

Gower in South Wales has topped the list of the ten best new staycation locations in the UK this year. And it's no surprise when you see some of the white sandy beaches that you'll find there. There's plenty of space to avoid the crowds and places to park your caravan or motorhome.

the scarlet cornwall

The Peak District

If a walking or hiking holiday is more your style, the Peak District is the place for you. With self-guided walks and tours, rock climbing, abseiling and alpaca trekking, there is plenty of fun to be had. And lots of nature to take in.

Cornwall

As soon as I saw the beautiful surroundings of the Scarlet Hotel in Cornwall, the northern Cornish Coast immediately shot up my list when it comes to places to visit in the UK. The Scarlet Hotel has a spa and restaurant which, although not currently open to non-residents at the time of writing, will hopefully be able to reopen in the future. So you can enjoy some added luxury on your caravan or motorhome holiday. There's so much more to do and see in Cornwall though - it's so picturesque. And if you are a fan of Poldark, you will find so many of its filming locations dotted around Cornwall.

the dark hedges game of thrones

Northern Ireland

Speaking of filming locations, if you're a Game Of Thrones fan and you haven't yet visited Northern Ireland, now could be the perfect time to do so. You'll feel like you're in Winterfell at Castle Ward. And The Dark Hedges in Ballmoney is possibly one of the most photographed Game Of Thrones landmarks. You can't forget about the Causeway Coast either. And there's plenty of space to stay socially distant too.

So those are my top socially distant holiday ideas for caravanning in the UK this Summer.

Remember to always follow government guidelines when it comes to where it is safe to travel to – the Bailey website also has a great news section giving you updates about holidaying in the UK. And be sure to check before you visit in-store, as retailers will be operating in different ways. You can always use Bailey’s Virtual Showroom where you can take a 360º tour of the caravans or motorhomes from the comfort of your own home.

Have you visited any of the destinations in today's post? If so, would you recommend them? And where would you like to visit next in the UK?
