It's What I've Been Watching time again. And I've decided to add something to hopefully make these blog posts a bit more helpful; a star rating system. So if you're quickly looking for something to watch, you can just scroll through to see what I've given a specific movie or TV show out of 5. So here's what to watch on Netflix and TV this month. In addition to previously featured faves Line Of Duty and The Bold Type that I've been watching too;
The Case Against Adnan Syed
As a true crime fan, I was incredibly excited when I saw that this documentary series was airing on Sky Atlantic here in the UK. And not only that. But that the whole box set was available to binge watch straight away. Which is ultimately what I did. There are only four episodes of this. So you could definitely watch it all in one sitting, if you're that way inclined.
Most of the time, when I'm watching a true crime documentary like this, my opinion of whether or not the individual in question is guilty or not flip flops the whole way throughout. However, it was the complete opposite with this case. For me, there is absolutely no way that Adnan is guilty of this crime. And it makes it even more frustrating to watch as you see so many years of someone's life wasted behind behind bars. It doesn't really go on to delve into other theories too much. Which is what would have made it a five star pick for me. Particularly as both Hae Min's boyfriend at the time and the man who discovers her body sound quite sketchy and worthy of investigation. But, as is often the case, law enforcement focus on one individual when they think they've got 'their guy'.

The Perfect Date
Is Noah Centineo the teenage heartthrob of this generation? Well, technically he's 22. But I think we may just need to let that slide. Like others who may or may not have been quite taken with him in To All The Boys I've Loved Before (review here). I didn't take much convincing to press play on this new Netflix release. But sadly it didn't quite have the magic that To All The Boys did.
It's pretty much just your bog standard teen rom com. But with the added pizzazz of Noah starring in it. It's predictable, cheesy at parts and has so many of the teen rom com tropes that the 90's were known for. But without really adding anything new to the table. It's still watchable or okay background noise but nothing particularly special. If you are planning on watching The Perfect Date, please don't watch the trailer as I did. As what is already a quite predictable tale will be given away before you've even started watching it.

Someone Great
Another Netflix original to drop this month, Someone Great could be best described as a feature length amalgamation of Girls, Broad City. And even The Bold Type, to some degree. It's set in NYC, revolves mainly around female friendship and what each of the characters is going through at this point in their life. And the three actresses playing the women in question actually feel like a believable trio of friends. I mean, I'm always here for Brittany Snow. And Gina Rodriguez knocks it out of the park in this movie.
There are also a few cameos that you won't be expecting, like Rosario Dawson and even Mr Ru Paul Charles himself, playing a kimono clad drug dealer with a handful of tiny dogs. And speaking of The Bold Type. I was also weirdly into the character Matt, played by Peter Vack. Which I'm not sure I really should have been. This is particularly true given the fact that he doesn't exactly play my favourite character on The Bold Type. Definitely worth the watch particularly if you're in your late 20's/early 30's and trying to figure things out. And when it comes to what to watch on Netflix, this would be my top pick this month.

Glow Up
If you remember my What I've Been Watching post from May of last year, you'll remember that I was a big fan of the US reality show Glam Masters. So when I saw the adverts for Glow Up, another makeup competition show this time hosted by Stacey Dooley, I was definitely on board.
There's a great mix of challenges from elimination skills tests, doing red carpet makeup on actual celebrities, working backstage at fashion week and tackling prosthetic makeup at the Harry Potter Studio Tour. And with guest judges like Drag Race favourite Kim Chi, NikkieTutorials and magazine editors. Glow Up is a fun and easy reality show to watch. And some of the finished and particularly creative looks are unreal! It's currently available on the BBC iPlayer or you should be able to get the boxset on the likes of Sky or NOW TV.

Bohemian Rhapsody
Bohemian Rhapsody had been on my list of movies to watch for a while, when my Mum received it for her Mother's Day this year. But I've got to admit, I really didn't know a great deal about the band or their iconic front man, other than the obvious details. I also wouldn't call myself a big fan of Queen, even though I know all of the words to most of their biggest hits. I had also seen a few clips of the movie, mostly when they were featured in awards shows. And I wasn't sure if I would be able to take Rami Malek's false teeth completely seriously for a whole film. But I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this movie despite all that.
I expected it to be good given the reviews and award nominations. But I didn't expect to like it nearly as much as I did. So if you hear me spontaneously bursting into a bit of 'Radio Gaga' or 'The Show Must Go On' anytime soon, this is why.
