staycation uk 2021

Even though I still have my fingers crossed that I'll be able to resume my plans to visit the US at some point in 2021, I'm really keen to explore more of the UK when it is possible and safe to do so. So I thought that I would share my top staycation ideas for 2021 with you today. And here they are;

London

Ever since I visited London last summer I've wanted to go back for several days or even a week this time, instead of just overnight like I did on my last visit. I stayed in the Covent Garden area last time and loved it but it would be great to stay in a different area next time. I'm definitely open to suggestions of where to stay in London, if anyone has any suggestions?

It would be great to explore more of the city and see more of the sights. Plus I have quite a few eateries on my list that I didn't get a chance to pay a visit last time, like Crème London and Doughnut Time. I'd also love to visit Sky Garden, which was closed the day that I was there.

Argyll and Bute

A little bit closer to home for me we have Argyll and Bute and more specifically the area of Loch Fyne. As soon as I saw that Portavadie housed Scotland's largest outdoor heated infinity pool, I was immediately on board. I mean, how dreamy does it look?

Another reason for visiting is the fact that I have read quite a few books set on the banks of a loch this year, namely The Summer Job which I will be reviewing on Sunday. And even though it's a completely different kind of book, The Hunting Party. It was so fun to be transported there from the comfort of my home but I'd love to visit the real thing. I certainly haven't explored nearly enough of Scotland as I'd like to, which is why a visit here is at the top of my list for 2021.

Bath

I'm still desperate to visit Bath one day soon. You'll probably have seen my speak about it quite a few times in previous travel blog posts. But a trip to Thermae Bath Spa has been at the top of my list of spas to visit next for years. Maybe 2021 will be the year that I cross it off.

Cornwall

Wouldn't it be incredible to spend a few days at the beach without leaving the UK? There are a couple that have seriously caught my eye in Cornwall. First, you've got the beautiful Carbis Bay Beach. Then there's the turquoise bay of Porthcurno Beach.

Seriously, just give each of these beaches a Google and you will see exactly what I mean.

Edinburgh

Last but not least we have one of my favourite staycation locations and that is Edinburgh. The fact that it's less than an hour away from where I live in Glasgow makes it an absolute no brainer for a little night away. And I have certainly missed popping through. As soon as it is safer to do and restrictions are lifted in 2021, I can't wait to spend some time in my favourite Scottish city for a getaway.

So those are my top staycation ideas for 2021.

As always, I will be making sure to follow any and all government guidelines when it comes to travelling within the UK next year.

Are you planning any staycations for 2021? If so, where is at the top of your list? And do you have any other recommendations for staycation ideas?
