I feel like I've really started off 2015 with a bang and a lot of the opportunities that I have been lucky enough to embark on this year would certainly not have been possible had I not started Ellis Tuesday. First of all, I started my internship at Becky White PR which has been so much fun and incredibly interesting too.

I also attended my very first blog event this month and it just so happened to be one of the most amazing events that I could have ever imagined. I just want to say another huge thank you to all of the lovely Benebabes for such a fantastic event and for inviting me along to try out the Roller Lash (click here to find out more about the event).

And to top off an already pretty amazing month, I also reached 2000 followers! I just launched a spectacular giveaway, thanks to the lovely team at Cohorted, to celebrate hitting that blogging milestone, so if you fancy being in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is (click here)

I'm definitely excited to see what the rest of 2015 holds for me, especially as next month is one of my favourite months of the year, well it is my birthday month after all. So we will see how that goes.

What was your January like? Please feel free to send me your instagram links and I'll be sure to check them out.

My 2000 Followers Real Techniques Bundle Giveaway With Cohorted

Just over two weeks ago I woke up to one of the best emails that has ever pinged into my Inbox. To see the number 2000 followed by the word followers immediately took my breath away. Straight away I thought back to the minute, in December of 2013, when I clicked publish on my very first blog post. Back then I never even expected two people to follow my blog and read it on a regular basis, nonetheless two thousand! When I actually think about just how much my blog has grown and developed since then it really does blow my mind.

I really just want to thank each and every single one of you who have clicked the follow button since that first blog post went live all those months ago. And to those of you who continue to read, support and interact with my blog, I'm honestly just so incredibly grateful that you do. If we were at an award ceremony right now this would be the point in the winner's acceptance speech where they play the 'get-off-the-stage' music, so I'll wrap it up there. Hehe.

To celebrate the blogging milestone the wonderful Ruby at Cohorted has given me the opportunity to give away an incredible bundle of Real Techniques brushes to one lucky winner. So if you fancy being in with the chance of winning, all you have to do is enter below via the Rafflecopter form and you never know, you could be the lucky winner of all of these amazing Real Techniques products.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review

As you might have seen if you follow me on Instagram (link here) or read my blog post on the event itself (link here), you will know that I was invited along to the launch of Benefit's brand new revolutionary mascara; Roller Lash. Over the past week I have been putting Roller Lash to the test and I am here to share my thoughts with you today.

What's really exciting about this mascara (well it's what I was the most interested to find out more about at the event) is the wand. It's unlike any other mascara wand that I have used in the past and it's all down to how the bristles are laid out. The lovely Rachel at Benefit described the concept behind the way in which the wand was designed best. Think of curling a ribbon. If you are anything like me when it comes to gift wrapping (isn't it one of the best bits about Christmas?), then you will know exactly what I mean. If not, what I'm talking about is when you take a length of ribbon and then put it in between a pair of scissors to create a curl as you pull it through. There's no need for eyelash curlers with Roller Lash. In my opinion, when it comes to curling my eyelashes I'm in the camp where "aint nobody got time for that," so eyelash curlers certainly don't factor into the equation for me one bit.

Roller Lash Mascara Swatch

Left to right: my natural lashes (or lack thereof) and my lashes after applying one coat of Roller Lash

As you can see, my lashes without mascara are pretty much invisible to the naked eye. Haha. I hope you can see how drastic the difference is after just one coat of Roller Lash is applied. Compared to Benefit's other, best-selling, mascara; They're Real!, Roller Lash is much more natural and definitely a whole lot easier to remove. I should mention here, Roller Lash is not waterproof, just in case you were wondering but it had real staying power on my lashes despite this. My only gripe with They're Real! is the fact that it is so tricky to remove (well at least if you haven't purchased the They're Real! remover that is). I've been reaching for Roller Lash more and more as the week has progressed and the fact that it lasts all day is a big bonus for me. I've had no issue with flaking or mascara fallout as the hours have went on. One coat (as I've documented above) leaves my lashes looking exactly as I would like them to look in their natural state (true black, perfectly separated and curled in a lifelike manner). I'm definitely not a fan of mascaras that leave your lashes looking like spider's legs. If it was a battle between They're Real (which I do really like, especially when it comes to creating dramatic voluminious lashes) and Roller Lash, Roller Lash would win hands down for me.

I've definitely found my new go-to mascara, especially as my old favourite; Too Faced's Better Than Sex, seems to be irritating my eyes all of a sudden. So Roller Lash really has made it's way into my life at exactly the right time. It's like a mascara match made in heaven. Hehe.

Benefit Roller Lash

If Roller Lash sounds like the mascara for you, then I have some very exciting news to share. Just in case you didn't already know, you can actually try this brand new mascara for free and weeks before it is officially released here in the UK, simply by picking up the March issue of Elle magazine. Roller Lash launches here on the 26th of February but you will receive a deluxe mini of Roller Lash with Elle well in advance of that date. If you don't want to risk finding empty Elle magazine packets (why do people do that?!) then you can pre-order the March issue to make sure you'll get your hands on your free sample.

What do you think of Roller Lash? Will you be trying it out? What do you look for in a mascara? And what's your go-to mascara at the moment?

What I've Been Watching In: January

Happy Christmas (2014)
Starring: Anna Kendrick, Joe Swanberg, Melanie Lynskey, Mark Webber
I've been wanting to see this particular movie, for so many different reasons ever since I first saw the trailer and the stars promoting this film at Sundance. First of all, Drinking Buddies (which was also directed by Joe Swanberg) was one of my favourite movies of last year (review here) and his way of making movies really intrigues me. All of the dialogue in Drinking Buddies and Happy Christmas was completely improvised, which is definitely a unique and interesting attribute. If you didn't already know that the dialogue was being done ad lib then I bet you wouldn't even be able to tell, which really says something about the calibre of the acting in this and the realistic quality that it is aiming to portray. Then there's the fact that it stars Anna Kendrick, who is one of my favourite actresses to watch and Lena Dunham pops up throughout as Kendrick's character's friend as well. And on top of that, Swanberg's adorable son Jude, stars in this as Swanberg's character's son. He's just the cutest.
I would certainly check this movie out if you get a chance to, especially if you've had enough of the traditional Christmas-time movies even if Christmas has now come and gone.

Stalker (2014-)
Starring: Dylan McDermott, Maggie Q, Victor Rasuk, Mariana Klaveno
As soon as I saw the first advert for this show, I instantly knew that it was right up my street and from that very first episode I've been completely hooked. Anyone who has seen that first episode and the scene in which a rug starts moving (I'm trying my best to describe it without giving the game away when it comes to that creepy moment), will know exactly what I'm talking about.
Stalker follows the LAPD Threat Assessment Unit (or TAU for short) as they investigate cases of stalking that vary each episode. Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q are a fantastic duo in this and every week we find out a little more about each of their own reasons for being as good at their job as they are.

Bates Motel (2013-)
Starring: Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, Max Theriot, Olivia Cooke
I was scrolling through Netflix one night when I stumbled across Bates Motel. Me and my mum are big fans of horror movies so we thought that we would give it a try and thank goodness we did. I've never seen Hitchcock's Pyscho, which Bates Motel is based on and my mum only remembers the highlights of it apparently (hehe). Despite Pyscho being released in the 1960's, Bates Motel (the prequel) is set in present day Oregon and boy is it good. It's creepy, captivating and each and every single episode ends on a spectacular cliffhanger which ensures that you just need to watch the next. I cannot recommend this TV show highly enough.
We've already binge-watched all ten episodes of the first season and sadly season two isn't on Netlfix yet. I'm quite tempted to buy the second season on DVD but every time that I do that it miraculously appears on Netflix before the DVD even arrives. Do I wait it out or treat us to the DVD? That is the question.

Dallas Buyers Club (2013)
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto
This was another Netflix based selection (as most of my choices normally are to be honest). I've been meaning to get around to watching Dallas Buyers Club since it was released and subsequently lauded and applauded universally, so I finally sat down and watched it this month and I am certainly glad that I did. I now completely understand the hype and celebration surrounding this movie as well as why Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto swept the board at basically every single award show this time last year.
I don't know the last time that I cried at a movie that wasn't a Disney or Pixar animation (I'm looking at you Toy Story 3) but this movie really did move me, so much so that I was really upset at one point. I have a feeling that if you've already seen Dallas Buyers Club then you will know what scene/scenes that I'm talking about. This movie really does make you sit up and think about the healthcare business, especially in the United States and it certainly makes me appreciate the NHS here in the UK.
I cannot recommend this movie highly enough.

Liberal Arts (2012)
Starring: Josh Radnor, Elizabeth Olsen, Zac Efron, Allison Janney
Despite graduating from University in the summer of 2013, I still feel like I'm in a bit of a post-graduate delirium. Boy, I sound a bit like Hannah from Girls right now, don't I?
Elizabeth Olsen is quickly becoming one of my favourite actresses to watch (if you haven't seen her in Martha Marcy May Marlene yet then you've got to give that a watch). Josh Radnor, who is best known for playing Ted in How I Met Your Mother, directs as well as starring in this movie. I could see a lot of myself in Elizabeth Olsen's character Zibby, which is why I think that this movie resonated with me as much as it did. It's well worth a watch and Zac Efron even pops up throughout this movie which is always a selling point for some movie viewers. Hehe.

Magic Mike (2012)
Starring: Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Olivia Munn
This is one of those movies that I've heard a lot about since it was first released, particularly from female friends of mine. So when I saw that it was going to be on TV one night last month I made sure to record it and I finally got around to watching it this month. It was exactly what I expected in some aspects (well the male stripping aspect in particular and all the eye candy that it provided) but in other aspects it wasn't what I expected at all. There was actually some semblance of a story and a focus on one character (played by Alex Pettyfer, who has most definitely grown up since I last saw him in Stormbreaker! Anyone else remember that movie?) And the fact that it showed his transformation throughout his time as a stripper was pretty interesting. It's also worth bearing in mind that this was based on Channing Tatum's past which adds another dimension to a movie that I assumed would be rather one dimensional.
Saying that though, if you would also like to watch it just to see a topless Matthew McConaughey play the bongos whilst saying his trademark phrase, "All right, all right," in his Southern drawl, then this is the movie for you. I also now totally get why Channing Tatum was as good at dancing as he was in Step Up. Hehe. Who's excited for Magic Mike XXL?

What have you been watching this month? Do you have any recommendations? Have you seen any of these? If so, what did you think of them?

Benefit Roller Lash Launch Event

Benefit Roller Lash Launch Event

On Monday night I was invited along to a top secret Benefit event in Glasgow. I was told to head to Argyle Street in the City Centre, where all would be revealed. Now when they said that I wouldn't miss them once I got there they definitely weren't lying as this is what I found when I arrived;

Benefit Roller Lash Launch Event Glasgow Truck

Yes that is a gigantic lorry parked right in the middle of Argyle Street and if you think that it looks impressive from the outside then just wait until you see what it looked like on the inside!

Benefit Roller Lash Launch

I honestly couldn't believe that all of this was housed inside that very lorry. And just look at how perfectly Benefit it is! I think that we were all completely mesmerised by the pink neon Roller Lash lettering on the back wall, as well as all of the wonderful vintage inspired pieces that filled the lorry so beautifully.

Benefit Roller Lash Launch Event Cupcakes

We were treated to Champagne, as we stepped onto the truck and some absolutely gorgeous cupcakes once we had taken a seat. And it was then that we were given a demonstration of Benefit's hotly anticipated new mascara release; Roller Lash. I am going to be doing a full in-depth review of it on Sunday, so please check back if you want to find out exactly what I think about it (spoiler alert: I'm already obsessed and once you see the results I have a feeling that you will be too).

Benefit Roller Lash Launch Event Glasgow Bloggers

It was also really lovely to meet so many incredible Scottish bloggers, many of whom I have been following for years now, so that was a bit of a big blogging moment for me. Considering that it was the very first event that I have been able to attend, I had such a fantastic time and the Benebabes were absolutely amazing and so welcoming. They were also rocking some seriously stunning Pin-Up inspired hairstyles too.

And as you might be able to see, just look at those light fittings! As someone who used to work in a hairdressing salon on a Saturday during my teens, this really did make me smile. I actually used to use very similar driers on the more mature clientèle that would frequent our salon every single Saturday morning. Hehe.

Benefit Roller Lash Launch Event Glasgow

This light fitting in particular was beyond amazing. Who wouldn't want one?

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

As I mentioned briefly above, I will be doing a full and in-depth review of the product this Sunday where I will be sharing all things Roller Lash, as well as when it will be launching here in the UK and where you can get your hands on it before the official release (hint hint: you might want to pick up the March issue of Elle magazine).

What do you think of the Benefit Roller Lash lorry? Are you excited for the Roller Lash release? If so, are you looking forward to my review on Sunday?

What I Got In The Lush Sale

Lush Sale Haul 2014 2015

This was the first year that I was beyond excited to head to the Lush sale on Boxing Day and it was also the first year that I was incapacitated with a horrible, horrible cold, meaning that I couldn't head to the shops on Boxing Day itself. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise as I hate to think how much I might have bought had everything that I wanted to pick up been in stock. Since I got absolutely nowhere on the Lush site on Boxing Day (I spent an entire day refreshing the page to be met with error code after error code), the less said about that the better to be honest, I eagerly anticipated the day when I would feel well enough to head to Lush. That day was the 29th of December so quite a few of the products that I had hoped to pick up were gone (the Luxury Lush Pud, Shooting For The Stars and the Christmas Penguin in particular) but I certainly didn't leave the shop empty handed, now did I?

I managed to get quite a few of the Christmas bath bombs on my wishlist as well as a bubble bar and of course I couldn't leave Snow Fairy behind when they still had some in stock. Do you think that I will have enough Snow Fairy to last me until next Christmas considering I now own four 500g bottles of it, two that I bought myself in this haul and two that my brother bought me for Christmas (link here)? Hehe.

When it came to the bath bombs I went with the ones that they had left that I loved the smell of the most (I have to say, I left the Cinders bath bomb and the Melting Snowman Bath Melt behind as I just wasn't a huge fan of how they smelt). I also actually bought two Butterbears but I managed to drop one on the train home from the shops. Typical clumsy me.

I really can't wait to try all of these out in the upcoming days and weeks. Despite these products not being available to buy at the moment, considering the fact that they are Christmas limited editions and not available until the end of the year now, would you like to see reviews of these or would you rather I waited until nearer Christmas again to share my thoughts? I would love to hear what you would prefer.

Did you manage to treat yourself to anything in the Lush sale? If so, what did you get? Have you tried any of the products that I managed to pick up?

My Orlando, Florida Travel Tips: Malls

Orlando Florida Travel Tips Malls

Now this is a blog series that I have been planning for quite some time now and I hope it's one that will appeal to many and in particular, those of you jetting off to Florida at some point in the future.

Over the past fourteen years I have been to Florida ten times and every time that I've been I've discovered even more interesting and unique places to explore, so I'm hoping that I will be able to provide you with a couple of suggestions above and beyond the obvious places that you will be sure to find in some of the more traditional travel guides. Saying that, I am planning twelve individual blog posts (making this a monthly blog series for 2015) dedicated to the best that Florida has to offer in terms of theme parks, food, shopping, activities and much, much more.

I was last there in September and October of last year so hopefully my tips will be as up to date as possible but if you've been to Orlando then you'll know just how much can change in even a couple of months as there is always something new and exciting being built. I'd love to hear your travel tips, if you've been to Florida jn the past or what you'd like to hear more about if you are planning a trip there, especially if it will be your first time.

And I thought that it was only right that the first of my Orlando, Florida Travel Tips was dedicated to one of my favourite places to visit whilst I'm in the Sunshine State; the malls!

The Florida Mall

The Florida Mall Michael Kors

For me, The Florida Mall offers the perfect mix when it comes to shopping. You've got your slightly more luxury stores like Coach, Guess, Lucky Brand Jeans and my personal favourite; Michael Kors. But then you've got the stores that I get the most excited to visit. I'm talking Victoria's Secret, Sephora and Forever 21.

Sephora in JC Penney

And if you are a fan of Forever 21 then this is the mall for you. With two sprawling floors, XXI Forever is the largest Forever 21 store in Orlando.
Looking to discover Victoria’s Secret? (Oooh. Hehe). The Florida Mall boasts three, yes three, Victoria’s Secret stores. One dedicated solely to beauty, a PINK store and a large Victoria’s Secret store which contains everything you would expect to find in the store, as well as even more beauty.
The main department stores to anchor the Florida Mall are JC Penney (complete with it's own Sephora inside it - as you can see above), Macy’s, Sears and Dillard’s.

MAC The Florida Mall

Florida Mall also features a large stand alone Sephora store, a huge MAC (just look at all of those lipsticks!), M&M World, The Disney Store and a hotel and conference center. Imagine a shopping centre here in the UK with it's own hotel and conference centre. I know that we certainly don't have anything like that here in Glasgow.

Charley's Steakhouse The Florida Mall

The food court at the Florida Mall is also rather impressive, especially if you've wanted to try out some of the American fast food that eludes us here in the UK. There's A&W which is amazing for all things fried, Five Guys (no explanation needed), Sbarro which is the place to go for pizzas and calzones and Charley's Grilled Subs (this is like Subway on another level with cups of fries for sides). Just look at how yummy it looks.

Mall at Millenia

Mall at Millenia Orlando Florida Travel Tips

The Mall at Millenia is a far cry from the outlets that Orlando is famous for (as I will be describing below) and it is where you will find some of the biggest and most exclusive brands available to you in the US. Think Cartier and Tiffany & Co. in the same vicinity as Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo. It's also the mall where I picked up my Michael Kors Mini Selmas (link here). And if you don’t have the cash to splash at stores like these then The Mall at Millenia also has stores such as Vans, Gap, J.Crew and the only Urban Outfitters that I came across in the Orlando area.

Chanel The Florida Mall

Oh and this is also where you'll find Pottery Barn and Anthropologie, so if you've been lusting after some of the products available in these stores, especially on Pinterest I imagine, then this is the mall to head to.

Johnny Rockets Mall at Millenia Orlando Florida

Whilst I normally tend to gravitate towards fast food joints when grabbing a quite bite to eat at a mall, the Mall at Millenia’s food court is on a whole other level compared to the other mall food courts. There's California Pizza Kitchen, Blue Martini, Panera Bread, The Cheesescake Factory (I'm drooling just writing these) and of course, my favourite; Johnny Rockets! If you've ever wanted to witness the American diner experience then be sure to head to Johnny Rockets at least once during your stay.

(Full list of stores at Mall at Millenia - click here)

Orlando International Premium Outlets

Orlando International Premium Outlets Travel Tips Florida

Some of the designer outlet stores that you can expect to find at this particular outlet mall are Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Banana Republic's Factory Store, BCBG Max Azria, Juicy Couture and Michael Kors. These are the outlet stores so don't expect to find current season stock in these stores but that's exactly why you're getting such great deals. There's also an amazing Victoria's Secret Outlet store and my favourite of the lot (even if I was just browsing), a Kate Spade New York Outlet store.

Orlando Outlets Kate Spade New York

This mall is also the only one where I found an American Apparel store in Orlando. It may not be the same crazy savings that you would expect to find at the outlet malls but it is still much cheaper than buying the same AA products in the UK.

Five Guys Orlando International Premium Outlets

This mall houses another typical American mall food court. You'll find a lot of the same options as you will in many of the malls; Subway, Sbarro, Five Guys (which is always well worth a visit) and Auntie Anne's Soft Pretzels but there's also Japanese food, Chinese food, Brazilian food, Italian food, the list really does go on and this is all quick, convenient and tasty. And if you are looking for other fast food and restaurant options then you'll find every fast food joint and restaurant speciality that you could ever think of just outside the mall complex as this particular mall is located right on International Drive.
Would you maybe like to see a post dedicated to the best places to visit and see on International Drive at some point in my Orlando, Florida Travel Tips series? Please let me know below if you would like me to.

Cinemark Festival Bay Mall Orlando Florida

As I mentioned, as this outlet mall is situated on International Drive, if you even just cross the road then you'll find another mall, the Festival Bay Mall, which has a huge Cinemark movie theater. This takes going to the movies to a whole different level and it's a bit of a tradition of ours to go and see a movie whilst we're on holiday (normally on a day/afternoon when it's raining) as that movie then holds so many special memories as you've seen it on your holiday.

Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets

Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets Travel Tips Florida

Whilst there is definitely a lot of crossover between the two Orlando Premium Outlets since they share many of the same stores, both are definitely still worth a visit. Stock varies by store, especially when it comes to the outlet stores, so if you are searching for some great bargains and big savings then be sure to check out as many of the outlet stores as you can.
Stand-out stores at the Vineland Premium Outlets are The Cosmetics Company Store, Diane Von Furstenburg, Disney's Character Warehouse, Samsonite, the Toys R' Us Outlet and Levi's Outlet Store.

Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets Florida Travel Tips

And much like the Premium Outlets located on International Drive, this mall really is just such a beautiful place to spend time. We tend to head to this particular mall during the evening as it's still warm but definitely a lot cooler than it would be during the day. It's also significantly less busy which is always a benefit when it comes to shopping at the outlet malls.

They've also just built an extension to the mall which is just across the car park (even I couldn't miss it and I do find it pretty easy to lose my bearings at these huge outdoor malls). The new stores include a Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, North Face, Under Armour, Kate Spade New York, UGG Australia and another multi-story Forever 21.

Apologies that there aren't more photographs of this particular mall. When we visited in September/October of last year both times that we went there was torrential rain. It was hard enough getting from store to store without getting completely soaked nonetheless attempting to take photographs.

So what do you think of my first Orlando, Florida Travel Tips post? Is it a series that you will be reading every month?
Have you been to Florida before? If so, what was your favourite mall to visit?

And as I mentioned above, this series is all about giving you the best travel tips possible as well as sharing some of my favourite places to visit, shop, eat and explore whilst I'm in Orlando, so please get in touch either in the comments below or via email or on Twitter with any topics that you would like me to cover or questions that you have. I'd love for this to be a really interactive series that will hopefully provide a lot of ideas to those of you planning a trip to Orlando, Florida at some point in the future. What Orlando, Florida Travel Tips would you like me to share next?

Ellis Tuesday Bakes On Wednesday: Disney Marie Shortbread Biscuits

Disney Aristocats Marie Biscuit Cutters

This is actually quite a momentous week on Ellis Tuesday. I just reached 2000 Bloglovin' followers, which still completely blows my mind and I can't thank every single one of you enough for reading and then following my blog (but more on that in a post next week). I'm also unveiling two brand new monthly blog series'. This Friday I'll be debuting my Orlando, Florida Travel Tips blog series and this is going to be my baking series, entitled Ellis Tuesday Bakes On Wednesday. There's nothing better than a midweek baking session so that's where that name came from.

If you love a spot of baking or if you have a particularly sweet tooth, then I have a feeling that this will definitely be the kind of series that you will want to check out. Each month I'm going to attempt to bake something that I've wanted to try for a while now, a bit like these shortbread biscuits. And I promise that you won't need to be Paul Hollywood or Mary Berry to keep up with me. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to this baking malarkey but who knows, I might advance to intricate petis fours before we know it (don't hold your breath though). Oh and it might be wise if no one signs me up for the Great British Bake Off just yet. Hehe.

I decided to start with these adorable little shortbread biscuits. Who doesn't love Marie from The Aristocats? And I promise that these are really easy to bake. There's only three ingredients and one of them is a quite a lot of butter but let's not spend too much time focusing on that.

Disney Marie Shortbread Biscuits Baking Blog

9oz Plain Flour
3oz Caster Sugar
6oz Butter

Step One: Mix the flour and sugar in a bowl and rub in the butter
Step Two: Knead well to form a smooth paste
Step Three: Roll out into the shape of your choice (I bought these Marie biscuit cutters from Amazon but you can also find them on Ebay or on Etsy, along with a whole host of different and equally cute designs)
Step Four: Place on a greased baking sheet or non-stick baking tray
Step Five: Bake for 25-30 minutes until a golden brown colour at gas mark 3-4, 325-350 degrees Fahrenheit

How to make shortbread biscuits

So what did you think of my first baking post? Will you be attempting your own take on these shortbread biscuits? And are there any specific bakes that you would like me to tackle next?

What I Got In The January Sales

January Sale Haul 2015

I always look forward to the January and Boxing Day sales but unfortunately due to me developing a pretty nasty cold which lasted from Christmas Eve until around New Year's Day, I was unable to hit the Boxing Day sales with my mum, which has been a bit of a tradition of ours since I was a child. After missing the Boxing Day sales as well as the next three days that followed, I wasn't too enthusiastic about there being anything left that I would want to buy but boy was I wrong. So here's what I managed to pick up in the January Sales this year;

Soap & Glory The Next Big Thing

Soap & Glory The Next Big Thing Was £60 Now £30
I actually just picked this up on Friday, which was a massive surprise. It completely sold out in my local store and online on the day that it went down to £29 before Christmas, so I definitely wasn't expecting to find it on the shelf of my local Boots store weeks later.
Would you like to see a full review of some, if not all, of the products in The Next Big Thing set?

Paperchase Accessorize Sale

Paperchase E Coin Purse Was £6.50 Now £1 - Accessorize Hammered Gold 'E' Keyring Was £5 Now £2.50 - Accessorize Glitter 'E' Keyring Was £5 Now £1.50
Clearly there was a bit of a theme to my sales shopping here now wasn't there? Normally when I find a product that has a letter on it the 'E' is more often than not completely sold out, so I really couldn't believe my eyes when I found some of the most beautiful products that I have ever seen with an 'E' on them and in the sale no less.

Accessorize Sale

Accessorize Flirty Flowers Waist Belt Was £15 Now £7.50 - Accessorize Travel Card Holder Was £3 Now £1.50 - Accessorize Dog Face Socks Were £3.50 Now £1.75
And then a few more things that caught my eye in the Accessorize sale, all of which I couldn't leave behind.

Paperchase Teddy Bear Bank

Paperchase Teddy Bear Bank Was £5 Now £1.50
How adorable is this little guy? And can you imagine my shock and excitement when I found out that this was only £1.50? This sale purchase was a no-brainer really.

New Look Me To You Slipper Boots

New Look Me To You Slipper Boots Were £12.99 Now £5
I'd actually seen these in the run up to Christmas and really fell in love with them but I didn't want to get them then just in case I ended up with slipper boots for Christmas. I did receive a lovely pair of penguin slippers on Christmas Day (link here) but there's something about slipper boots, I think it's the fact that they keep my ankles warm, that draws me to them more than traditional slippers. And for only £5, how could I say no?

Primark Thumper Slipper Boots

Primark Thumper Slipper Boots Were £5 Now £3
And as if I didn't need another, yes another pair of slippers, I picked up this adorable pair when I was last in Primark. I actually bought my mum a pair of these for Christmas (she's always been a big Bambi fan, as have I) and wished that I'd bought myself a pair too as they just looked so cute on her. So when I found out that they were down to £3 (almost half price, which isn't bad for Primark) I made sure to grab myself a pair. I think my feet will definitely be warm and toasty for the foreseeable future now.

Sharpie Set

Sharpie Set Was £24.99 Now £9.99
Now this is what I call an unbelievable deal. It was £2.50 for a single Sharpie in WH Smith or £9.99 for this entire set including some colours, the neons in particular, that I've been after for a while.

When I add up how much all of these products would have cost me had they not been in the sale, this amounts to £146 (or £145.98 to be precise). But with all of the savings taken into consideration, this year's January sale haul only cost me £65, that's a saving of over £80. Not too shabby really especially when I missed Boxing Day. But these aren't all of my January sale bargains. Next Sunday (a week today) I will be showcasing what I managed to nab in the Lush sale, so there are still plenty more savings to be added to my final totals for the January sales this year.

Have you shopped the sales this year? If so, what bargains did you manage to bag for yourself? Do you prefer to do your sales shopping from the comfort of your home or are you all about battling it out in the stores themselves?

My Best Blogging Moments Of 2014

Best Blogging Moments of 2014

2014 marked my first full year as a blogger and to say that I've seriously enjoyed it would be a bit of an understatement. For the first time in a long time I've actually had a real passion for something and it's inspired me to finally turn my love of all things blogging into a career. And as I briefly mentioned in my blog's first birthday post (link here)my first year of blogging has been filled with so many incredible opportunities, opportunities that I could never have imagined happening when I hit publish on my first post. So I decided to dedicate a blog post to recap some of my favourite blogging moments of 2014 and fingers crossed that 2015 is a year of even more fantastic opportunities and blogging moments.

Reaching 100,000 Blog Views
I know that it's not all about the numbers but to see the number of views increase on a daily basis really does make me smile. It's also really interesting to see what posts people gravitate to when they're on my blog as well as which ones have been viewed the most. Can you tell that I'm one of those bloggers who still gets excited to see a number appear on the real-time Google Analytics page? Hehe.

St. Enoch Feature in Magazine - My St. Enoch Photoshoot
One of the biggest and most surreal blogging moments of 2014 has to be my photoshoot for the St. Enoch magazine. And it was even more surreal to see my face (and my body for that matter) in print.
For some reason, even though I'd had my photograph taken in a busy shopping centre and written up the copy for the magazine and for my blog posts in the weeks prior, it didn't actually feel real until I had the magazine in my hands. It was also really lovely to be able to share what I've achieved blog wise with the members of my family who don't even own a computer (I'm talking about my grandparents here) and they were really proud to see my little face in an actual magazine.

Tesco Beauty
When I was approached by Tesco Beauty and asked if I would like to write an article for them I really was gobsmacked. To think that my blog had caught their attention and they were excited to share my writing with even more readers was something very exciting. I certainly enjoyed freelancing and it really is something that I want to focus more time and attention on in 2015.

Lord Sugar RT
As a huge fan of The Apprentice and the man himself; Lord Sugar, this was a pretty big blogging moment on Twitter in 2014. Not only did Lord Sugar re-tweet my blog post but he also tweeted me which was pretty unreal to say the least.

Look Fantastic Blogger of the Week
This was another big moment, especially as I've been a Look Fantastic shopper for a good number of years now. To see my work featured on another site, one other than my own blog, is never not exciting for me. When I first started my blog I could never have imagined the fact that I would be able to see my words appear on sites that I have frequented for years now. Again; pretty surreal.

Reaching 1000 Followers
To reach such an incredible milestone within just a few months of blogging was truly unbelievable. And to know that I am currently edging closer and closer to 2000 followers still hasn't truly sunk in. I'd just like to thank everyone who has clicked the follow button over the past thirteen months.

Being featured on the Soap & Glory blog
And as a blogging novice and a big fan of the brand in question, having my blog featured on the Soap & Glory blog (link here) way back in February of last year was such a big deal for me. It has been absolutely amazing to work with the lovely girls at Soap & Glory throughout the year of 2014 and I can't wait to work with them again this year.

What were your highlights of 2014? Blogging or otherwise?

My 2014 Beauty Favourites

2014 Beauty Favourites

As much as I adore reading monthly favourite blog posts and watching monthly favourites on Youtube, I never seem to have enough new favourites every month to even contemplate writing up my own monthly favourites but I do have some 2014 beauty favourites to share with you today. These fourteen products have been the ones that I've truly fallen in love with over the past twelve months and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

2014 Make-up Favourites Too Faced Eyeko Beauty UK Collection GOSH Makeup Revolution Ellis Faas

First up it's my favourite make-up products from the year that was and I have a feeling that these will be firm favourites of mine for a long time.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black £12

Eyeko's has to be the best eyeliner that I've tried in 2014 (and I tried a fair amount last year). The tip is ideal, especially if you're not an expert at drawing on your liner and it dries with a true black finish (it doesn't go grey or end up a strange brownish tone). However, I have just bought the Stila Stay All Day liner which has already impressed me immensely but since I've not really had the chance to put it to the test over an extended period of time I haven't included it in this favourites post. Maybe it will make it's way into my 2015 favourites post. Hehe.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara £19

This is honestly the best mascara that I have ever tried. It does everything that I would ever want from a mascara. It lengthens, adds volume, doesn't clump or flake and is a true black shade. It really is perfect. For a more in depth review of the Better Than Sex Mascara (click here).

Collection Little Mix Love All About The Eyes Palette £2.99

If you buy one neutral eye shadow palette this year then make it this one from Collection. The shadows are buttery, blendable and unbelievably priced.

Beauty UK Posh Pout in Power To The Purple* £2.99

To say that I've tried quite a few lip crayons in 2014 would be a bit of an understatement but only one has completely blown me away and that's this one from Beauty UK. I honestly can't fault this lip crayon at all. It applies so evenly, doesn't cling to dry lips, lasts for hours, smells amazing and is less than £3! What's not to love?

GOSH Mineral Powder in Ivory 002 £9.99

GOSH have to now be my favourite drugstore beauty brand. Not only do they do some incredibly impressive nail polishes but their new releases for the year of 2014 were spectacular finds. This powder matches my skin tone exactly (and trust me, this isn't an easy feat). It's not cakey or clingy either, which makes it a real winner in my eyes.

ELLIS FAAS Milky Lips in L207* £23

2014 introduced me to a brand that shares my first name. You have no idea how exciting this was, especially as my name never appears on anything, ever. And this really is the perfect nude lip and it's one that I've been wearing pretty much non-stop. I'm going to review this in full in the next couple of weeks so expect swatches and more info very soon.

Makeup Revolution The One Blush Stick in Pink* £5

I could have easily included a whole host of products from Makeup Revolution in my 2014 favourites but as I've not yet pronounced my love for this particular product I thought that I would include this one. It really is such a fantastic shade of pink and if you're not a fan of the slight shimmer that this shade provides then you can pick up the exact same shade but in matte. And the fact that it's a dupe for the NARS Multiple doesn't hurt either.

2014 Skincare Favourites Clinique Soap & Glory La Roche-Posay The Body Shop GOSH

When it comes to skincare there have been five products, all of which I discovered in 2014, that I couldn't imagine going without now.

Clinique Moisture Surge £36
The Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief has seriously worked wonders on my incredibly dry and flaky skin. This is a moisturiser unlike any other that I've tried before and if you are prone to dry or very dry skin then this product is a real lifesaver. For a more in depth review of the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (click here)

The Body Shop All-In-One™ Instablur™ Eye Conceal & Enhance Eye Primer* £10

My under eyes are quickly becoming an area that need a bit more work than any other area. I'm talking dark circles and fine lines and as a result any concealer that I use to attempt to combat these wasn't doing what it needed to do until I picked up a tube of The Body Shop's Instablur™ Eye Conceal & Enhance Eye Primer. This provides the perfect base for concealer and has made such a big difference to my concealer quandaries. For a more in depth review of the Instablur™ Eye Primer (click here).

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter £2.50
The Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory has to be my favourite body moisturiser for many different reasons. From the scent to the levels of moisture that it replenishes in my dehydrated skin, to the fact that you can get it in several different sizes (this little pot is perfect for travel), it really is just simply amazing.

GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer in Clear £12.99

Another exciting release from GOSH, this primer really does leave your skin with a velvet touch. I'm talking baby soft skin and a perfect base for the rest of your make-up.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+]* £15.50
La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Duo [+] is a must have for anyone who suffers with break outs or blemishes and really makes a difference for those left with residual marks or redness as a result. Again, this has been a real wonder product for me this year and spurred me on to try many more La Roche-Posay products in 2014. For a more in depth review of the Effaclar Duo [+] (click here).

2014 Haircare Favourites The Wet Brush Tresemme

And when it comes to haircare there have been two stand out products in 2014.

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Activated Treatment* £6.99

This product has been the one product to make the biggest difference to my hair in 2014. With or without using heat, the entire Tresemme Keratin Smooth range really does smooth the hair and keep it looking like you just stepped out of a salon for days and when I say days, I really do mean days. For a more in depth review of the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Activated Treatment (click here).

The Wet Brush* £11.99

In my opinion, it takes something pretty special to beat the Tangle Teezer and this has done it. On wet hair nothing beats this brush. It glides through tangles and tugs with ease and reduces the amount of pull on your hair. That means less hair getting pulled out whenever you encounter a big tangle. For a more in depth review of The Wet Brush (click here).

What do you think of my 2014 favourites? Did you use any of these beauty products last year? If so, what did you think of them?

Did you enjoy this post? I think that I might try and make it an annual occurence or maybe even bi-annual, if there is a big influx of exciting new products in 2015. How does that sound?

What were your favourite beauty products from 2014? If you have done a blog post on yours please leave me a link below and I will be sure to check them out.
