Nails Inc Nail Polish Diary: September

Nails Inc Electric Lane Holographic Top Coat Beauty Review Nails Inc Nail Polish Diary: September

Nails Inc Electric Lane Holographic Top Coat £11

Despite my nail polish collection being rather expansive (this photograph only shows about two thirds of it (link here)) I do tend to neglect the wide variety of top coats that I've accumulated over the years and have at my disposal. I'm pretty sure it has something to with my sheer laziness but for some reason or another they are rarely the first thing that I pick out when I'm painting my nails. I know that I very rarely wear an exciting top coat in the summertime and I think the only top coat I've ever worn in the spring was one that aimed to make your nails look like Mini Eggs (oh how I miss Mini Eggs!) But as soon as the seasons shift from the sunshine and warmth of spring/summer (who am I kidding? I live in Scotland! Hehe.) I find myself gravitating towards the glitter top coats that I own in particular, as well as lusting after all the new top coat releases.

When I saw this holographic top coat was the September polish in my Nail Diary I was instantly mesmerised by the sheer brilliance of this polish. I distinctly remember holding this up to the light (a bit like that memorable scene from The Lion King) and dreaming up ways to use it over the festive period. And ever since it first graced my nails I've been in love with it. As a self-confessed top coat neglecter this is a bit of a big deal for me.

Not only does it instantly put me in a festive mood (it's September so it's perfectly fine for me to mention Christmas isn't it?) but it also allows you to easily transform so many different nail polishes. A coat or two of this holographic top coat turns any old polish into a sparkling glitter-ball.

As it's a top coat, don't expect the same level of coverage as a traditional glitter nail polish but why would you want to wear it on it's own when it looks so spectacular over a darker shade of polish? Thus far I've worn it over black, navy and a dark purple and it just adds so much to the look of the nail. As this top coat comprises of densely packed flecks of holograph glitter, it just adds a whole new dimension to your manicure. It's glitter but not as we know it with this polish.

I really can't wait to wear this over the festive period and it's also such a magical touch that my nails seem to effortlessly blend in with the glittery front cover of the Nail Diary itself when I'm wearing this over a silver polish, for example. I wonder if this was intentional. Hehe.

So what do you think of this top coat? Are you a fan of top coats or are you a little bit lazy, like me, when it comes to an additional product in your nail routine? If you are a fan, what are your all time favourite top coat polishes?
