Ellis Tuesday's Summer Sun-days: Drugstore Make-up

Ellis Tuesday's Summer Sun-days: Drugstore Make-up Beauty Review Makeup Revolution Collection Beauty UK Miners B. Superdrug

When the weather starts to get a little warmer I definitely find myself neglecting certain products and reaching for more summer appropriate products when it comes to my make-up. So I thought I would share some of the products that have made their way into my summer make-up bag this year. I've decided to dedicate one post to drugstore make-up and another to more high end products, (which I will be publishing in the month of June). This means that all of the products in this particular Summer Sun-days post cost less than £10, with the majority of them costing less than £5. These products can either be picked up in store or online in some of your favourite drugstores so you've got no excuse not to check out some of these purse friendly summer make-up suggestions. Hehe.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer in Rush Beauty Review Summer Swatch

Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer in Rush* £3
The one product I've been getting the most wear out of so far, as the weather has started to improve, has been this wonderful blush from Makeup Revolution. As if I wasn't already seriously impressed with this new budget beauty brand, after trying their Iconic 3 Palette (review here), I've found myself even more enamoured with the brand after trying this lovely little liquid blush.

The pigmentation is really unbelievable when you consider the price. I have to admit, at £3 I wasn't expecting a lot from this product but this instantly gives a pink pop to the cheeks without fear of looking too clown-like at all. A little really goes a long way with this, as I hope you can see from above, so it's best to bear that in mind when dispensing the product onto the back of your hand. Now as I speak of dispensing, you can imagine my real excitement when I opened the lid of this to find a pump dispenser. This makes it quick, easy and hygienic to use so I'm definitely a happy girl when it comes to this blusher! Makeup Revolution you've done it again!

Miners Matte Effect Wonderland Lipstick Beauty Review

Miners Matte Effect Wonderland Lipstick* £3.99

Coral lips are a trend that I've seen a lot of this year, especially in the run up to summer but I wasn't sure if a coral lip was something I would be able to pull off. This is a bit of a trend led purchase in the fact that I don't think I'll be wearing this shade in the winter months. Saying that, I do see myself getting a lot of wear of this when the sun is shining (fingers crossed this summer is a sunny one). If like me, you're not entirely sure if you can pull off a coral lip then I would pick one up that doesn't break the bank. This particular lipstick from Miners is at a perfect price point for me. Not only is it under £4 but the formula and the colour is really impressive for the price. Even though this is a matte formula it isn't drying in the slightest, so if you're looking to give the coral lip trend a whirl then I don't think you can really go wrong with this lipstick. I haven't actually tried a great deal from Miners in the past but I'll definitely be looking to try some more in the future after being as impressed with this lipstick as I have been.

Beauty UK Baked Blusher in Halo Beauty Review

Beauty UK Baked Blusher in Halo* £3.99

I haven't tried a lot of baked cosmetics or make-up before and I kind of feel like it's something which has passed me by but I'm glad I was given the opportunity to try a baked blusher from Beauty UK. I now feel like a little shopping spree to pick up some other baked cosmetics might be in order after trying this particular product.
Despite this being a blusher, I personally use this as a highlighter to add a little something extra to my make-up routine and to my cheekbones. I apply this just above my Makeup Revolution blusher and it really goes hand in hand with the pretty pink Makeup Revolution shade. To make this blusher even more of a must buy, there's also a little mirror included in the lid of the box which just means one less item to carry in your summer make-up bag. This is great if you're make-up bag is already overflowing with products and different mirrors. Another fab find from Beauty UK!

B. Complete Limited Edition Eyeshadow Quad in Pop Beauty Review

B. Complete Limited Edition Eyeshadow Quad in Pop* £6.99

If you're looking for some new eye shadow shades (preferably in a palette like package) and you're heading to the drugstore, then this is the one product you just need to pick up for the summer! When I first saw this I initially had to do a double take as something about the packaging immediately caught my eye. Mirrored finish; check. Pretty floral design; check. Who cares about the eye shadows, just look at that packaging, was what first sprang to mind for me. Hehe. Then I was greeted with three bold and beautifully pigmented colours, which really are perfect for the summer. When else can you wear a bubblegum pink eyeshadow? I also adore the cobalt blue and the teal green shades, (which are bang on trend for summer 2014 too!) Now if you're not impressed by the colours themselves (and why wouldn't you be?) or the gorgeous packaging then I have something I think might make you fall in love with this eye shadow quad. That fourth mystery shadow isn't actually a shadow at all but it's actually a primer. You heard me, a primer! And one of the creamiest eye shadow primers I've tried too. This particular quad is a limited edition release so be sure to pick it up in time for the summer if this looks like your kind of must have product.

Collection Volumising Mascara in Ultra Black Beauty Review

Collection Volumising Mascara in Ultra Black* £3.99

This bright orange tube has to be one of my favourite drugstore mascaras. Whilst I tend to use the Maybelline New York Colossal Volum' Express Mascara all year round, I do like to change it up a little by trying out different mascaras intermittently throughout the year. This is one of those rare mascaras which has really impressed me. If you're looking for a good amount of volume without having to fork out a substantial amount of money, then I would definitely recommend giving this mascara a try.
As I naturally have rather long lashes the main thing I look for when it comes to mascara is the amount of volume that it gives my sometimes spindly eyelashes. This offering from Collection builds up volume quickly and most importantly, without leaving your lashes looking spider-like or too clumped with product, in the process. It's definitely one of the best mascaras I've found in the drugstore and for less than £4 who can really complain?

So what products are essential for you when it comes to changing up your make-up bag for summer? Have you tried any of these products? If so, what do you think of them?

The next blog post in this series will be dedicated to fake tan and self tanning products so if you have any suggestions of what you use to achieve a faux glow for the summer then please let me know below.
