Getting A Little More Dressy On The Daily

how to style a trench coat

I'm always looking for new places to shop, especially online so when Tobi, a brand that I hadn't actually heard of before now, got in touch to ask if I'd like to try some of their pieces I was more than happy to oblige. I'm always a bit weary of ordering from international sites, particularly as so many of them can hit you with fees and duties when your order reaches the UK. Tobi, however, promises free shipping and all VAT and duties paid on all orders to the UK so I was keen to see if this was in fact the case.

They were keen to send me a dress, something I don't ordinarily wear in the Winter apart from at the odd festive gathering which is why I went for more of a casual day dress instead of anything too festive and sparkly.

I picked this one, the Floral For You Black Off Shoulder Day Dress* as I had been such a big fan of shirred dresses like these over the Summer, having added about four of them to my Summer wardrobe last year. The print definitely gives it an Autumn/Winter look rather than Spring/Summer which I definitely appreciate and it's had me reevaluating how I dress and what I buy, something I'll be going into more depth on later in the month.

I also picked a couple of accessories to accompany my look, namely the Fuzzy Feels Black Backpack*, which might be the most adorable bag that I own (it is SO SOFT!), with it quickly becoming the bag that I've been reaching for this Winter and these black tassel earrings*. Surely I'm not the only one who's gone a bit mad for tassel earrings, as you might have seen in my last two outfit posts.

I also gave my new copper Chelsea River Island boots their first outing of the New Year. I had had my eye on them when they were full price so you can imagine how happy I was to find them for just £20 in the River Island sale right before Christmas (they've still got them in plenty of sizes and in silver, if they look like your style!) They are incredibly comfy, something that can't be said for my other pair of Chelsea style ankle boots which literally cripple me with every step (definitely a Monica from Friends situation with that particular pair) and they jazz up any old outfit. And as it's still very much Winter here in Scotland, my favourite longline Winter coat (similar here), from New Look, had to be thrown on to stop me from catching hypothermia mid-shoot.

I can confirm that I had no issues with my order or with any fees/duties being required which really did take a weight off my mind and had me looking on the Tobi site again to see what to order next. I've already got my eye on this dreamy blush pink faux fur coat and this snuggly blue sweater and the fact that they have a sitewide sale on at the moment is making me even more tempted to press buy.

What have you been wearing this Winter? Does the thought of surprise taxes and duties put you off from ordering from international sites and retailers? And what do you think of my picks from Tobi?
