The Best Of Beauty Gift Guide (+ A Superdrug Giveaway)

best beauty gift sets for christmas

As someone who loves all things beauty, I just had to dedicate an entire gift guide to just that this year. Don't forget that you'll also find lots of other great beauty gift ideas in my other gift guides, all of which have gone live this week so be sure to check them out for other options and more inspiration. In addition to those, these are the beauty gift sets that you don't want to miss out on this year;

real techniques limited edition

Makeup Brushes

Whether you're looking to treat someone to a new set or introduce someone to a wider variety of brushes or plan to add to your own collection, Christmas is the time to take advantage of the great makeup brush sets that they release. Not only are they great value for money, compared to buying the brushes individually but they're often limited edition or set exclusives meaning that you won't find them anywhere else and that they'll normally sell out not to be seen again. When it comes to makeup brushes there are a few that I really trust that are also great value for money.

Real Technique's always come out with great holiday sets, meaning whether you're a newbie who's only starting to dabble in applying makeup or you're obsessed with all things makeup and beauty, there's a set for you. I love this colour correcting set as there really isn't anything else like it on the market. If you haven't yet discovered the wonder of colour correcting, this is the kit that you need in your life. It's also one of those gift sets that you could easily split up if you're buying for friends, family or colleagues that you know would love something from RT. And if they're a fan of the slightly more luxe Bold Metals range, then this eyes and lips set is for you.

I also really like Superdrug's Studio London range of brushes and this bumper set* contains everything you could possibly need in your kit. It's also down to just £7.50 from £25!

makeup revolution brush set review

And whilst at Superdrug, you simply have to check out this year's limited edition Makeup Revolution makeup brush collection. You might remember that I featured one last year, which I absolutely loved but this year's set looks even better. Plus, who can resist those stunning two tone bristles?!

If you like the look of this set, I really can't recommend buying it sooner rather than later as it always sells out every year and really is limited edition as you won't see it other than in the run up to the festive season. You can tell that I was worried about just that happening as I snapped this up as soon as I saw it in-store.

buxom lips off leash review

Gettin' Lippy

I've always been a bit self conscious about my teeth, namely because they'd started to shift back to their original positions after having braces as a teen but this year I decided to undergo Invisalign to straighten them and my whole thought process surrounding my lips and mouth has changed. I was once scared to wear anything too bold that would attract more attention to my teeth but over the past few months I have felt so much more confident and that's how a whole new world of colours and finishes opened up to me.

Now just imagine how well Santa will have done if someone receives this spectacular set* from Buxom on Christmas morning?! I tried one of Buxom's Full-On Lip Polishes earlier in the year and quickly fell in love with the formula so I can't wait to make my way through this set and the fantastic thing is that I can even split the gift up and add a few to gift bags and stockings this Christmas.

Every year Too Faced release a melted lips set and every year I miss out on it as it sells out so quickly but I was determined not to let that happen this year. With four melted lips, this year's has melted lipsticks of the matte, latex, chocolate and regular variety. It really is such an easy way to gift some of Too Faced's bestselling products or to try out some for the first time yourself. I picked mine up from Debenhams but you can also get it directly from Too Faced or from Sephora/Ulta.

And to keep your lips in tip top condition, particularly in the colder months, I cannot recommend nugg's lip products highly enough. You'll have seen me rave about their exfoliating lip smoother in the past (see review here) and this treatment set really is a must-buy if you or the person you're buying for has got lips that are prone to cracking, chapping or just not looking their best, in the Winter-time.

lush christmas set 2017

Now for me, it wouldn't be Christmas without at least one Lush Christmas product. Normally I receive at least one bottle of Snow Fairy and their gift sets are always such a safe bet. Basically if you're struggling to think of something to buy your Mum, sister, BFF, girlfriend/wife or even your colleague at work for Secret Santa, head to Lush!

Every year they do incredible gift sets and this year is no different but the one that you have to check out, in my opinion, has to be this Jingle Bells set. Not only is it packed full of great Christmas exclusives but it has also has multicoloured sleigh bells on the box! Now if that doesn't scream Christmas, I don't know what else does? It's also the kind of box that you'll want to keep and reuse (I'm already planning on filling mine with the rest of my bath bomb collection when Christmas is over). Priced at £35 it also won't break the bank either.

Secret Santa and Stocking Fillers

Speaking of Secret Santa and stocking fillers, I always make sure to make good use of Boots' 3 for 2 deal on gift sets. Sleek have some brilliant sets this year and these two were too good to leave behind on a recent shopping trip of mine. I may or may not be keeping them for myself. Hehe.

And along with Soap & Glory, who I featured on Friday, Sanctuary are my go-to for bath and body gift sets. My Mum and Gran specifically love their range and you really will find something in their range to suit a whole range of individuals. I'm also loving the coppery packaging of their Christmas gifts this year and they contain some of Sanctuary's bestselling and most loved products.

The Soap & Glory Boots Star Gift 2017: Spa Of Wonder

soap and glory star gift 2017

It's finally here! Today is the day that this year's Soap & Glory Star Gift goes on sale in Boots and as per usual it truly is unbelievable value for money. For one week only, or whilst stocks last, this year's gift set will be just £30 instead of it's usual price of £60. Not only that but the value of this year's set is £78, if you were to buy each of the items individually, which is just absolutely unreal.

So let's see what this year's set, named Spa Of Wonder*, contains;

You get ten, yes TEN! full sized products and this year Soap & Glory have split the box into two categories; girls' night in products and girls' night out products.

For girls' night in we have:

  • FACE SOAP & CLARITY™ 3-in-1 Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash
  • BRIGHT & BEAUTIFUL™ Radiance-Boosting Mask
  • CLEAN ON ME™ Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel
  • THE SCRUB OF YOUR LIFE™ Smoothing Body Scrub
  • SMOOTHIE STAR™ Deep Moisture Body Milk
And for girls' night out we have:
  • THE RIGHTEOUS BUTTER™ 3-in-1 Cleanse, Shave and Moisturise
  • THICK & FAST™ High Definition Mascara
  • SUPERCAT™ Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen
  • SEXY MOTHER PUCKER™ Lip Plumping Gloss
I mean, what a great array of products and I love the fact that they have included more of their makeup products in this years box as well as one of their newly released face masks. I've actually yet to put the face masks to the test so I was very excited to see one feature in this year's Star Gift.

soap and glory spa of wonder

And what about that packaging?!

Soap & Glory always knock it out of the park with the packaging of their Star Gift in particular and this year is no different. I love the fact that it almost looks like a TV, a pink and star filled one of course and I always appreciate the fact that the box can be reused and it's not just a lot of plastic packaging which will inevitably be thrown in the bin. I personally keep my box every year and have the past few years' stashed under my bed packed full of miscellaneous stuff such as hats and scarves, paperwork and my electrical appliances.

boots soap and glory star gift 2017

And how cool is the front of the box?! It was quite tricky to capture via photograph but if you look at the box one way she's in her nightgown, hair wrapped up in a towel, doing a spot of pampering and if you look at it from another viewpoint she's applying her lipstick ready for a night out.

If you've still got someone or several someones to buy for this year, I would definitely grab this fantastic set whilst you still can and thank me later.

What do you think of this year's Soap & Glory Boots Star Gift? Will you be picking one up? And what's your favourite Soap & Glory product or products of all-time?

A Little Bit Of Luxury Gift Guide (+ A Magnitone Giveaway)

best christmas gifts for her

For me, Christmas is the one time of year when it's perfectly acceptable to throw around the words 'treat 'yo self' on an almost daily basis. From having more than one mince pie to stocking up on gift sets, both to gift and to keep for yourself, it truly is 'the most wonderful time of the year'.

If you're looking for a gift for that special someone in your life whether it be your Mum, your BFF, your girlfriend/wife, your sister or even yourself, I've got some gifts that I know will make them/you feel well and truly treated this Christmas;

what to buy mum for christmas

You know how much I adore all things Kate Spade New York and in my opinion, the easiest way to share the gift of Kate Spade with your loved ones is by treating them to some of the stationery range. I mean have you ever seen stationery as pretty?! You might remember that last year I featured the Kate Spade New York desk planner/foldout agenda and it was easily one of the best gifts that I received myself. Not only was it incredibly handy and kept me right on quite a few occasions (especially as I'm someone who often mixes up dates) but it gave me the push that I needed to actually get work done instead of procrastinating.

This year the planner is even more chic and features the same fantastic array of pads and lists inside. And if you're shopping for someone who loves their stationery or keeping themselves organised, who also has a penchant for Kate Spade New York, this stationery tackle box* could not be better suited. Packed full of sticky notes, paper clips, push pins and basically everything you could need stationery wise, this will be a Christmas gift that will actually get used unlike the hundred and one bath bits that they will inevitably receive.

If the person that you're buying for is a big candle fan or they love to light them in the Winter months, I don't think you'll find a more festive candle than this one from Bella Freud*. Sure you've got Yankee Candle's Christmas range, which I still adore, but does it reference of one of the best Christmas songs of all time? It's also unlike any other candle that I currently own, of which most of mine are sickly sweet and immediately makes my sideboard look all the more chic and sophisticated.

christmas gift ideas for her beauty

Next we have some great gifts from Cult Beauty. If you're a fan of the kinds of festive gift sets that Sephora do at this time of year but always thought that you'd never be able to buy them here in the UK, get yourself on Cult Beauty now! Many of the gift sets are exclusive to Cult Beauty here in the UK, making it the place to go for your beauty buys this Christmas.

I was ecstatic to see this Sol de Janiero Bum Bum Beauty Voyage set* on the site, especially as I've wanted to try the Bum Bum cream for pretty much all of 2017. It also comes with the Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist, which I can confirm smells just as good as the Bum Bum cream itself. I also love the packaging of this set and the fact that it's a great way to try out the iconic moisturiser without having to fork out for the full size straight away.

Another set that I was over the moon to spot on Cult Beauty was the Huda Beauty Contour and Strobe Lip Set*. I mean doesn't that just look like one of the best gift sets you've ever seen?! Who wouldn't want to open it up on Christmas morning?! I've already fell head over heels in love with the lip strobe that I received in last month's Look Incredible Deluxe Beauty Box (as seen here) so to try more from the brand thanks to this amazing little set is what gives it my stamp of approval this festive season. There are four colour varieties to choose from and it won't break the bank either, at under £30.

charlotte tilbury gift set

Without a doubt, Charlotte Tilbury has to be my favourite beauty brand and her Christmas gifting options are always out of this world and this year is no different. Whether you're buying for your BFFs, your Mum, sister or girlfriend/wife, there truly is something for everyone and every budget. They also come in their own gift boxes, making them easy to wrap unlike 99% of the presents I usually buy.

Two new gift sets for 2017; the Beauty Icons and the Lip Archive*. If the person you're buying for has always wanted to try Charlotte's iconic lipsticks or if they're already a big fan, the Lip Archive gift set is the set for them. It also features three of Charlotte's best-selling lippies, which are only available in this set. They're also the kinds of shades that will suit a whole range of skin tones and colours.

And if you're not sure which Charlotte Tilbury product to gift to your loved one this year, you cannot go wrong with the Beauty Icons gift set. Comprising of a full size of Charlotte's iconic Pillow Talk lip liner and great luxury travel sizes of some of Charlotte's most award-winning products, I think you have to agree that this is one beautfiul gift set. And if you really want to treat the woman in your life this Christmas, add Charlotte's Scent Of A Dream to your basket right now, I promise you won't regret it and it will be another one of those presents that will be met with the biggest of smiles on Christmas morning. I'll be doing full individual reviews on each of the Charlotte Tilbury gift options next week so stay tuned for that to see each of the sets in more depth.

mon guerlain review

Nothing says luxury like cashmere and as a result, I always thought that it would be way out of my budget. However, I found this beautiful 100% cashmere scarf in Debenhams from Jasper Conran's J by Jasper Conran range at St. Enoch this year. It's also available in a variety of colours and is super super soft. This is the kind of affordable luxury that you need to check out and it's also currently down from £45 to £31!

Also from Debenhams, this epic set from Guerlain*. You might remember how much I raved about this fragrance earlier in the year, if not, you'll find my review here and I always find that Christmas is the best time to stock up on fragrances thanks to great gift sets like this one. You're getting a 100ml and a 30ml of Mon Guerlain for the price that you would regularly pay for just the 100ml so basically you're getting a 30ml for free. It's also a great set to split up so maybe give the 100ml to your Mum and the 30ml to your BFF (or even to yourself).

christmas gifts skincare

Much like Christmas being a great time to stock up on fragrance, the same can also be said for skincare. And some of the gift sets offer up savings that are out of this world. For fail safe skincare gifting I give you these three;

If in doubt, the bareMinerals Make It Mine Skincare Kit* has got you covered. Whether the person you're buying for has a skincare routine or not, this kit gives them the perfect three step routine to make makeup look better on and to care for their skin in the cold Winter months. It's also worth £57 but only £39 to buy. See what I mean about great savings to be had by buying sets?

Speaking of savings, this Joyful & Renewed 3-Piece Set from Murad* has product totalling £118 in it but will cost you just £65 this Christmas. That's essentially half price! So if you know the person you're buying for loves Murad but doesn't get the chance to treat themselves to it all that often, be sure to snap up this set.

magnitone barefaced rose gold

And you know that I can't recommend the Magnitone BareFaced Cleansing Brush enough but this festive season they've made it even more dreamy by bringing out a rose gold and metallic blue version. And today I'm giving you the chance to win your own rose gold BareFaced. All you have to do is fill in the Rafflecopter form below;

Christmas Presents He *Might* Not Hate (+ A Go Ape Giveaway)

christmas presents for him uk

There's no doubt about it, shopping for the men in our life can be incredibly tricky. There's only so many pairs of slippers, socks or novelty boxers that you can buy one man. And it's got to be said, I'm not sure we would be over the moon to receive something so similar every year, so this Christmas why not think a little bit differently and treat them to something special.

So here are some Christmas presents he *might* not hate;

gift ideas for him christmas 2017

If the man that you're buying for is a film fan, this 100 Movies Scratch Off Poster* from Prezzybox is a great idea. Not only does it give them ideas for movies to watch in the future but it's also a fun way to keep track of the classics that they've seen. I also find that movies or DVDs are a pretty fail safe present idea, especially if they've always wanted to see something or missed a particular movie at the cinema. These are a few that I'd easily recommend. My Dad also raves about the Roger Waters live DVD as a big fan of him and Pink Floyd in general.

gift ideas for men christmas

If your Dad, boyfriend/husband, brother, Grandad or male friend is a fan of cars, motorbikes or any kind of automobile, old or new, then my Dad has just the gift idea for them. Whether they have fond memories of a car from their past, would love to own a supercar or motorbike or are glued to their car TV programmes, this is the kind of gift that they would cherish and hang with pride. He's currently taking commissions but has plenty of prints to choose from, all ready to go. You can see more of his work over on his Twitter, where he's @georgecochrane1 and be sure to let him know that I sent you.

christmas presents for him 2017

If you're really not sure what to get one of the men in your life, I always recommend visiting the likes of Debenhams  or John Lewis where you can scope out the latest and greatest aftershaves, take a trip to the gifting section where you see some of the classic and current card and board games (I can't recommend the likes of Pointless or Catchphrase for playing on Boxing Day enough) and you can even physically feel some of the gifts before ordering them online. I picked up the Mr & Mrs Pocket Edition from Debenhams in St. Enoch. The one aftershave that really caught my eye or should I say my nose this year is the new YSL Y scent. Escentual have currently got it promotion making the hefty 100ml bottle just £61 instead of £72 or you can pick up the gift set, which includes a 60ml and travel 10ml bottle for just £45.

And if you've got your other half into popping on a sheet mask whilst watching the football this one* from Bandito is a fun way to let them have a face mask of their own. It also makes for the perfect stocking filler idea too.

The men in my life are also always listening to their music or the football so a pair of these Brainwavz BLU-100 Bluetooth Earphones* would certainly go down well with them. They can say goodbye to tangled earphone wires and crazy long cables with these.

funny gifts for him

And how good are these bits from Scribbler?! They have plenty of fantastic alternative Christmas cards and lots of pop culture references for the men in your life. I mean, this notebook might just be the most appropriate gift for many a male.

I'm also a big fan of investing in experiences rather than things, as you will have seen this year as I've been saving my money to put towards trips and experiences when I'm there rather than buying another eyeshadow palette that I don't necessarily need. A great experience idea for the men in your life that you'll also want to get involved in is Go Ape.

what to buy your boyfriend for christmas

There are three unique Go Ape courses located across Scotland, each featuring a tree top adventure. Aberfoyle in Stirlingshire is zip wire heaven and is home to two of Britain’s longest zip wires. Glentress Forest near Peebles has the highest zip wire in the country, set above a magnificent reservoir, while Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire features the epic skateboard zip wire. Go Ape gift experience vouchers are available to buy online, with vouchers starting from £10 up to £60. They can choose a date, time and course that suits them best. And today I'm giving you the chance to win a pair of Go Ape tickets. All you have to do is fill in the Rafflecopter form below;

a Rafflecopter giveaway Rules:
There will be ONE winner picked at random - Prize provided by Go Ape - UK only
2 x adult tickets available for either Go Ape Peebles, Aberfoyle or Crathes Castle only - Travel not included
Prize must be redeemed by 30th April 2018

And be sure to check out the rest of this week's gift guide giveaways if you fancy being in with a chance of winning.

Do you find it tricky buying for the men in your life? Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? And which gifts caught your eye in today's gift guide?
