So what exactly does the May box comprise of, well let's see;
The first thing that caught my eye, when I opened up this month's box, was the glistening pack of brilliant all butter Brioche Pasquier croissants. We, as a family, are big, big fans of all things Brioche Pasquier so we certainly enjoyed having these for breakfast and almost had to wrestle one another for the last one in the bag. Hehe. Both Kallo products were absolutely fantastic as well. I do enjoy it when something from Kallo pops up in one of these boxes. If you're looking to snack without sacrificing the taste or feeling too guilty about it, you'll need to check out Kallo's range at some stage soon.
Talking of snacking, despite hearing a lot about madeleines, I'd actually never tried one until now but I know it won't be my last. They were incredible. I almost can't stress enough how good they were. They actually reminded me a bit of madeira cake blended with a traditional vanilla sponge cake. So yummy! I'll definitely need to hunt down another pack asap! The Get Fruity bar was great too and as someone who adores all things strawberry it was a lovely treat for when I was on the move during the week.
My eyes lit up when I saw a packet of pasta included in this month's box. Not too sure what that says about me apart from the fact that I could easily exist on pasta and pasta alone for a good number of days/weeks without any complaints. As pasta makes up a big part of my diet, I'm always looking for new shapes and varieties to try. It sounds silly but trying a different kind or shape can really change up a dish, particularly when you eat it with chicken stock alone, as I do.
My Mum immediately claimed the two packets of Wonderful nuts as she's on a bit of a health kick at the moment and likes to take snacks with her to work that aren't too naughty. Both get her seal of approval.
And how fun are the Pechkeks misfortune cookies? They taste exactly like normal fortune cookies but the twist is definitely in the 'fortunes' that you receive inside them. Instead of giving you some vague 'message', these offer up a bit of brilliant dark humour. I'm definitely going to keep these in mind when it comes to future gift buying.
I actually took these very photographs minutes before we sat down to enjoy a barbecue in our back garden and we were totally inspired by one product in particular to do so and that was the Jack Daniel's barbecue glaze. The rest of my family love these kinds of glazes and sauces and according to them you can definitely taste the Jack Daniels kick. And whilst on the topic of alcohol, me and my mum really enjoyed the Cranes sparkling alcoholic drinks with our BBQ that night. These are the kinds of drinks that are perfect on a warm Summer's evening. I went for the strawberry and kiwi flavour, which was so tasty and my mum went for the cranberry version, which she loved. And that's not the only sweet treats in this month's box. The Beloved date nectar works particularly well as an alternative to super sugary syrup. This means that you can use it on top of your porridge in the morning, on pancakes or waffles or even in baking. And the Pomegreat juice was so tasty too. Either on it's own or with a little alcoholic tipple, this is another great find when it comes to keeping hydrated in the warmer months.
Overall, I certainly enjoyed this month's box, as did the rest of my family and it's one of those rare boxes where we couldn't wait to try absolutely everything in it. Sometimes there's one or two products that stay in the box for a good number of weeks before we actually get around to trying and consuming them but there was none of that with this box. It also inspired a Summer barbecue, which can only be a good thing, right? Hehe.
What do you think of this month's box? Have you tried any of the products featured in May's box before? If so, what do you think of them?
