Summer Makeup Must-Haves

A couple of weeks ago I made a trip into Glasgow City Centre to do a spot of window shopping. I had no intention of buying anything and instead was just looking to get out of the house for a couple of hours to enjoy what was an uncharacteristically warm and sunny day here in Scotland. But as soon as I stepped into a couple of my favourite shops, some serious damage had been done. And my debit card had had a bit of workout. So here are the products that I picked up on that particularly #feelingspendy day and my summer makeup must haves;

Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done*

When I saw this had been released, I knew straight away that it was one of those products that I would just have to try. As I've mentioned a number of times on here before, during the warmer months I always opt for tinted moisturisers, BB and CC creams and similar products, instead of a proper foundation. I certainly prefer the feeling of letting my skin breathe. And it also stops me worrying that my foundation is literally melting off my face in the heat and the sun. This has definitely lived up to my hopes of it being a great lighter base. And the fact that it comes with an SPF of 20 makes it ideal for wearing all year round. But especially during the Summer months. I went for the shade light, which is a little darker than I'd hoped it would be. But it blends effortlessly. And a little does a lot for a pale redhead like myself.

B.Sculpted Blush & Highlight Stick

You know what I'm like when it comes to rose gold, which meant that I was obviously attracted to this coppery dream of a product like a moth to a flame. I always make sure to check out the B. stand in Superdrug as they really do release some pretty innovatory and expensive looking and feeling products for a fraction of the price you'd expect to pay elsewhere. It's definitely a stand that seems to get overlooked, even in the beauty blogging community. This Blush & Highlight Stick immediately reminded me of the Benefit Fine-One-One for some reason. And it's a real fuss-proof product too. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of products that can just be swiped on without much hassle that actually deliver and that's exactly what this does. You can instantly apply your blush and a stunning highlight in one swipe. Definitely one to check out on your next trip to Superdrug.

GOSH Primer + Illuminating Skin Perfector

Another drugstore beauty brand that often goes unnoticed or gets underappreciated, is GOSH. Much like with the B. stand, I always stop to have a good look at the GOSH stand. And I'm always glad that I did. This is a primer but with a bit of a tint. And as a result, you can honestly leave your foundation or even a lighter base like the Urban Decay one I've just mentioned, behind on a no-makeup day. This feels so much more expensive than it actually is. And it doesn't even feel like a typical primer either. A little really does go a long way with this. As if you apply too much the tint ends up making your face look a little yellow if you over do it. But I would say, the slightly yellowish tint does counteract any dark circles as well as redness too.

Lancome Walk The Lime Juicy Shaker

After seeing these on basically every single blog that I read, curiosity certainly got the better of me with this one. First of all, the packaging is just brilliant. I never actually owned one of the original Lancome Juicy Tubes that were all the rage when I was growing up. This was despite me pestering my Mum to let me try one every time we visited the US. But I'm definitely glad that I could treat myself to this little shaker. The Walk The Lime shade was the one that stood out the most to me. And what I love about it, apart from the wonderful scent and taste of it, is the fact that there's no stickiness on the lips at all. It's more of a lip oil than a lip gloss. Plus you can decide if you want to wear it sheer or build up the colour a bit more. I think I might need to treat myself to another shade soon.

Smashbox Panorama Pink Be Legendary Cream Lipstick*

Last but not least we have this brilliant pop of pink lipstick from Smashbox. I'd heard great things about this recent release from one of my favourite beauty brands and just had to try it out for myself. I'm trying to be more brave with the lip shades I go for, instead of just sticking with the 'my lips but better' shades that I normally go for. This one is pink but not too pink, if you get what I mean. It feels like a classic and chic shade instead of one that screams Barbie pink or something like that. This also feels lovely on the lips and doesn't cling to any little imperfections or dry patches, which instantly means a big thumbs up from me.

So there you have it; my summer makeup must haves. I feel like I made some pretty good purchases, even if I was feeling a little spendy that day. It's been one of those months where all I feel like I've done is spend, spend, spend but most of it has been happening online via PayPal and for some reason, PayPal money just doesn't feel like real money to me. Dangerous stuff! Hehe. Do you feel the same about PayPal money?

Have you treated yourself to anything recently? If so, what did you buy? And what do you think of my Summer makeup must-have picks? Are there any in particular that really catch your eye, that you'd like to try?
