10 Tips To Take Your Blog To The Next Level

Tips To Take Your Blog To The Next Level

One question I often get asked is 'how do you take your blog to the next level?', so I thought that I would put together a blog post to share some of my tips and here they are today. Whether you're someone who's been blogging for a while now, have wanted to start a blog for ages or just started your blog, hopefully this should give you a couple of tips to bear in mind...

Plan out your blogging schedule in advance

This has to be my biggest blogging tip and one that works particularly well for me. Without some semblance of a schedule for the upcoming weeks/month, I do find myself procrastinating a whole lot more and if I know that I've got a bit of a deadline to meet for a particular post, slotting it in to my schedule really helps me keep on top of everything.

Up until recently I just created a word document with the days that I post on and then I can slot in blog post ideas beside them, such as this;

W - How To Take Your Blog To The Next Level
T - June Favourites (YouTube)
F - Benefit Brows
S - Zoella Beauty Sweet Inspirations Range Review

So for that week I know exactly what I'm working on and can make sure to prioritise these posts when it comes to taking photographs and writing up the post itself. You don't need to stick to your schedule rigidly, as it's your schedule and of course you can switch certain blog posts around but it just takes that pressure of thinking 'what am I writing or photographing next?' away, for me anyway.

Paperchase Bloggers Journal

Therefore, you might be able to understand how excited I was when I spotted this Bloggers Journal in Paperchase. I'd definitely recommend it to any blogger looking to take their blog to the next level as it has absolutely everything you need to keep track of all things blog related. It's also great to see a High Street retailer recognise us bloggers. Hopefully this will just be the start of things when it comes to that.

Schedule tweets to promote your blog posts

Okay, so this is something that I have only just started doing but already I'm starting to see the benefits. It means that you don't need to worry about reaching for your laptop or phone at certain stages throughout the day to promote your latest blog post or even link back to older content. I've been using Tweetdeck and it's fairly self explanatory and simple to use. Being able to promote your content all in one go saves a lot of time and certainly helps with procrastination levels again too.

Invest in a professional blog template

There's no doubt about it, blogs are definitely becoming increasingly visual and I know that I can often be put off a blog simply if the font is too small for me to read or if everything is all over the place. You don't need to spend a small fortune to give your blog that professional and clean look. You can find some absolutely stunning blog templates with all the bells and whistles for as little as £4 on Etsy but for me, it's all about Pipdig. This is the Venture template, which I've had for just over a year a now and still absolutely adore but I'm definitely thinking of treating myself to one of their newest templates very soon. If any little thing doesn't work thanks to Blogger's silly updates or if I want to change or update something or things, Phil is on hand to deal with it quickly and efficiently.

I see my blog template as a way to really highlight my photography and writing and having it work well on tablets and smartphones is a big thing too. No matter your taste or the topic of your blog, let your content shine by presenting in a way that does it justice. Having it be easy to navigate is key.

Make it easy for brands, PR's and readers to get in touch

This is simple. Have your first name and an email address located somewhere on your blog. This is especially helpful if your blog name has nothing do with your actual name. I would really recommend putting it in your sidebar, if you have one, so that it's one of the first things someone visiting your blog sees. Having an 'About Me' page is even more beneficial as both your readers and potential collaborators can get a feel for what you're like and how to get in touch with you.

Make your social media channels easily accessible

The first thing I do when I find a blog that I've really enjoyed reading is to head over to their Twitter and follow them. You could be losing out on potential followers simply by not displaying social media buttons on your blog.

How To Take Your Blog To The Next Level

Upload a photograph from your blog posts onto Instagram

This is something that I only started doing after a good couple of months of blogging. If you don't share your content on Instagram already, why not? Many of your Instagram followers won't necessarily read or follow your blog but by sharing a photograph from your latest blog post, you will be sharing that content with more people as a result.

I now even try to make sure that one of the images from each of my blog posts is 'Instagram ready', meaning that all of the important details or products from that blog post roughly fit into the 'Insta' square. I also always make sure to say something along the lines of 'check this out on my blog (link in bio)' so those who are interested in reading more know where to find me and my blog.

Tag brands on social media

You have no idea how many brands have approached me after seeing me write about one of their products. Whether you're writing about your favourite lipstick, where you got your new dress from, what you've used to make your dinner that night, etc. etc., tagging the brands that have featured in your posts on Twitter and Instagram in particular, could be the beginning of a relationship with a brand that you obviously love.

Check that the links on your blog actually work

This works both in terms of making your blog easy to use and also for SEO/DA purposes. Sometimes certain algorithms are changed, such as Instagram's and Bloglovin's and that can change your links and although these are outwith your control, it's always wise to check and see that your links actually take people where you want them to. There are so many blogs who have social media buttons that lead nowhere or just take you to a broken link on their own blog.

In terms of SEO/DA purposes, broken links (links that no longer work) can actually damage your blog as it looks as though your blog has spam links. The biggest offenders are sale links, links to products that are limited edition or fellow bloggers links who have either been left in your comments incorrectly or who have stopped blogging and deleted their blog. A simple broken link checker search shows you exactly where all the broken links are so you can go and replace or delete them, where applicable. I try to run a broken link check every Saturday morning and I'm always surprised at how many there are each week.

Best Blog Advice And Tips

Be Consistent

This doesn't mean that you have to post every day or that you can't take a break because you're going on holiday/not well/just not feeling it that day but consistency is key. It doesn't even need to be the same content every week or whenever you post, just as long as readers know there's something to look forward to reading and it also makes your blog a much more attractive entity to brands and PR's if they see that you are someone who consistently puts up posts.

Love What You're Doing

We all have those days when we lose motivation or get struck by a serious case of writer's/blogger's block but if you don't love what you're doing, what's the point? As long as you enjoy what you're doing, you're going to be much more inclined to keep doing it. No matter how small the victory, be it reaching a certain number of followers, getting to work with a particular brand, going to a blog event or meet-up or whatever it may be, always celebrate the little things.

What do you think of my tips? Do you do any of these? And would you like to see more blog posts like this in the future?

5 Of The Best Concealers For Pale & Fair Skin

Best Concealers For Pale Fair Skin

As you will know, if you've ever seen a photograph of me or watch me on YouTube, I am incredibly, incredibly pale. So pale that most drugstore and high-end beauty brands just don't seem to cater for my skin tone or complexion at all. As a result, over the years, I've put many to the test with varying degrees of success.

Concealer is all the more important in my makeup routine as I very rarely/almost never wear foundation. This mostly has to do with the fact that I just haven't found my perfect match when it comes to a foundation, at least up until this point. I'm quite lucky that blemishes only pop up every so often, normally around my time of the month, which means that I mainly use concealers to hide dark circles under my eyes and a multitude of tiny little broken capillaries and purple veins.

So today I thought that I would share with you my top 5 concealers, ones that will work particularly well for those of us with pale and fair skin, as well as some swatches so you can get a feel for how these look, even if I did struggle to fit all the swatches on my hand/arm, hence the alternative swatches idea. I'm also going to talk about each one in a bit more depth than I would ordinarily in a post like this so you can really determine whether or not one of these, or more, might be for you. So let's get started;

Top Concealers For Pale Skin

NYX HD Concealer in CW02 Fair - £5.50
When NYX first arrived in Boots, here in the UK, I was one of those people who got more than a little bit excited. That level of excitement and anticipation was further increased when an actual NYX stand cemented itself in both the St. Enoch and the Buchanan Galleries branches of Boots, here in Glasgow. Despite there always being a big crowd huddled around the stand, I managed to fight my way through to pick up this brilliant concealer a couple of months ago. And ever since then I haven't been able to stop raving about it to everyone. As you'll soon hear me mention, the drugstore isn't always that great at offering up a wide variety of shades, particularly if you're at either end of the shade spectrum but I was instantly impressed with the selection of shades at the NYX stand. They even had a yellow, green and purple version of this very concealer, if you've been wanting to colour correct and colour correct on a budget. I'm also really tempted to try out their concealer jar for a bit more coverage.

Makeup Forever HD Concealer in 305 Porcelain - £21
I first picked up this particular concealer in Sephora during my last trip to Florida and it's one that I will always repurchase as a result. If you've got dry/dry-ish under eyes, then this is the concealer for you.
Another big plus point; this is properly porcelain. Don't you hate it when you try out a porcelain shade only for it to be orange or yellow-ish in tone? I definitely do.
This doesn't sit in any creases or crevices either and is easily one of the most blendable beauty products I've ever tried. It is a little pricey, especially when you compare it to some of the others in this blog post but for me it is practically worth it's weight in gold.
My only slight issue with this is the applicator. Who thought it would be a good idea to use a bendy silicone-y/plastic applicator for this? This means I have to apply the concealer directly onto my finger or the back of my hand instead of right onto the skin but I guess it's a pretty minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

Amazing Cosmetics A Little Amazing Concealer in Fair - £19.50
First of all, just a little heads up. Look Fantastic currently have £7.80 off the RRP of this, making it just £11.70, which is definitely worth taking advantage of if you've wanted to try this out for a while.
Out of the five concealers that I've featured in today's blog post, this is the thickest in consistency. It really works to camouflage every little imperfection. From redness, to broken capillaries and dark circles, this has you and them covered. And it's one of those rare products that truly is budge-proof, making it perfect for warm Summer days or wearing to the gym if you need a bit of concealer courage to get you there.
It's also an Allure award-winner and apparently a certain Miss Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a big fan of this. If it's alright for RHW, it's certainly alright for me.

KIKO Natural Concealer in 01 Clear - £5.50
This next concealer is a rather recent discovery. If you saw my KIKO Glasgow Grand Opening & Haul blog post, then you will know that I picked this up when KIKO opened it's doors in Glasgow City Centre last month. But quickly this has become a go-to concealer for me, particularly when I'm in a rush.
You know when you find a perfect match when it comes to your concealer shade? Well I'm definitely not used to that, particularly when it comes to the more purse friendly options, meaning I was over the moon when I gave this a try.
This certainly has more of a pinkish tint to it than any other concealer I've tried in the past and please don't let the shade name, Clear, put you off. It's pale but not too pale or white, if you know what I mean.

Sara Hill Little Pop Concealer in Peely-Wally* - £16.50
Talking of shade names, how fantastic is the name of this little pot of wonder? If you're from Scotland, you'll definitely understand the phrase 'Peely-Wally'. Other notable shade names when it comes to the Little Pop Concealer are Milk Bottle, Caramel Wafer and Custard Cream. Out of all the concealers in this blog post, I find that this works best on blemishes. It's also incredibly creamy and one of those products that just feels lovely on the skin.
I also absolutely adore the little blurb on the back of the Little Pop Concealer box. It reads;

'Spots are awesome, redness is cute, dark circles make you look mysterious, but if you did want to keep those beauties a secret from the world then this is the stuff for you. Little Pop is a bad ass concealer, it's like a magical invisibility cloak for those wee bits you want to keep hidden.'

Best Concealers For Pale Skin

Do you struggle to find shades that match you and you skin-tone? Have you tried any of the concealers mentioned in today's post? If so, what do you think of them? And would you like to see more posts like this where I share my top 5 mascaras. liquid lipsticks, brow products, etc.?

What Would You Like To See Me Vlog In Florida?

Just in case you've not already noticed, I finally started YouTube! After years of saying 'I'll get around to it soon' and then not, I bought myself a new camera, one with a flip screen, created my channel and sat down to film my very first video and now I've certainly got the YouTube bug. I'm constantly thinking of new video ideas, as well as how to improve and learn when it comes to my channel and as I briefly mentioned in my Makeup Revolution Goody Bag Giveaway blog post (don't forget to enter if that sounds like something you might like to win), I'm going to start vlogging too.

I already gave vlogging my first attempt yesterday when I went to a Benefit brows blog event, so that should be up on the channel at some stage soon if the footage worked out. And really, the whole reason that I finally got around to starting up YouTube was so that I could vlog this year's trip to Orlando, Florida.

I'll be doing a lot of the tourist-y kind of stuff as well as exploring the bits of Orlando and Florida that you wouldn't necessarily think of right away, as well as a whole lot of shopping! So if any of that sounds like it might be of interest to you, I'd definitely make sure to hit the subscribe button before I jet off later in the year.

I also really want to know what you would like to see most? It would also be great to find out what kind of format you would like to see the vlogs take too.

Would you prefer to have stand alone vlogs on specific places (ie. a vlog dedicated to a particular mall, a Disney Springs vlog, a Universal Studios vlog, etc.)? Or do weekly vlogs sound more appealing to you? Or what about a highlights style vlog or vlogs?

I'd love to hear what you think so please leave a comment below or get in touch with me via social media (I'm @ellistuesday on everything) or email.

Do you have a YouTube channel? If so, be sure to leave me a link to yours below. Are you a fan of vlogs? And what would you like to see more of on my channel more generally?

Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette

Alice Through The Looking Glass Urban Decay

Every so often there's a beauty release that makes my heart flutter and that's exactly what we have here. If you haven't seen or experienced the Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette in person yet, I can't urge you enough to go out and check it out, whilst you still can.

Whilst this limited edition seems to be out of stock online, my nearest Debenhams had quite a few left in store when I was last there and they still have some stock online, as do Sephora and Ulta for my American readers. So I'm sure you should still be able to locate this swoon-worthy palette if you so wish.

Today I'll be sharing my thoughts on the palette and the shadows and basically just sitting back to admire and swoon over all of these photographs.

Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette

I mean, how out of this world is this packaging? I know we shouldn't necessarily judge a book by it's cover, especially when it comes to makeup but I just can't get over how stunning every single bit of this packaging is and that's before we even get to the main event; the shadows themselves.

Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Review

For me, the way that this particular palette has been packaged, makes it a real keepsake. One of those pieces that sits pretty on your dressing table for years and years to come. Okay, so it might not be the most practical or portable of palettes but as someone who rarely takes a full palette away with me when travelling, this really isn't an issue.

As you might be able to tell if you've ever seen a photograph of me or watch me on YouTube, I certainly opt for more natural looks when it comes to my makeup but ever since trying and buying the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette at the end of last year, I have been experimenting a bit more with colours that I previously would have thought were too bright or out there for me and my complexion. Surely I can't be the only one who has a play with different makeup looks on days and nights when I'm not leaving the house? Hehe. But basically, Urban Decay will always lure me in when it comes to their shadows, especially when they bring out palettes that include such a brilliant variety of shades and ones as stunning as these.

Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

And the fact that this palette includes 20 brand new shades, ones that are limited edition in nature, certainly swayed me in the direction of adding this to my makeup collection instead of just admiring it from afar.

Some of my personal favourites so far have to be Looking Glass, Reflection, Duchess, Salazen Grum and Royal Flush but I'm already thinking of rocking a real smoky eye with Mirror, Dream On and Time very soon.

One thing to definitely bear in mind when it comes to a palette such as this is the fact that you are completely in control of what shades you pair together. Unlike a palette that's solely made up of neutrals or brights, ones that I would never think of using together, this palette allows you do just that and get a little more experimental and brave with how you pair certain shades and colours together. That's exactly what made me go from just looking at this palette adoringly as it sat on the stand in the store to actually taking the plunge down the rabbit hole with this one.

Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette Packaging

What do you think of the Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass palette, both in terms of the packaging and the variety of shades? Are you a fan of collaborations like these? Which shades are your favourite? And who or what would make for your dream beauty collaboration?

Some Of My Summer Makeup Must-Haves

Summer Makeup Must-Haves

A couple of weeks ago I made a trip into Glasgow City Centre to do a spot of window shopping. I had no intention of buying anything and instead was just looking to get out of the house for a couple of hours to enjoy what was an uncharacteristically warm and sunny day here in Scotland. But as soon as I stepped into a couple of my favourite shops, some serious damage had been done and my debit card had had a bit of workout. So here are the products that I picked up on that particularly #feelingspendy day;

Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done* - When I saw this had been released, I knew straight away that it was one of those products that I would just have to try. As I've mentioned a number of times on here before, during the warmer months I always opt for tinted moisturisers, BB and CC creams and similar products, instead of a proper foundation. I certainly prefer the feeling of letting my skin breathe and it also stops me worrying that my foundation is literally melting off my face in the heat and the sun. This has definitely lived up to my hopes of it being a great lighter base and the fact that it comes with an SPF of 20 makes it ideal for wearing all year round but especially during the Summer months. I went for the shade light, which is a little darker than I'd hoped it would be but it blends effortlessly and a little does a lot for a pale redhead like myself.

B.Sculpted Blush & Highlight Stick - You know what I'm like when it comes to rose gold, which meant that I was obviously attracted to this coppery dream of a product like a moth to a flame. I always make sure to check out the B. stand in Superdrug as they really do release some pretty innovatory and expensive looking and feeling products for a fraction of the price you'd expect to pay elsewhere. It's definitely a stand that seems to get overlooked, even in the beauty blogging community. This Blush & Highlight Stick immediately reminded me of the Benefit Fine-One-One for some reason and it's a real fuss-proof product too. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of products that can just be swiped on without much hassle that actually deliver and that's exactly what this does. You can instantly apply your blush and a stunning highlight in one swipe. Definitely one to check out on your next trip to Superdrug.

GOSH Primer + Illuminating Skin Perfector - Another drugstore beauty brand that often goes unnoticed or gets underappreciated, is GOSH. Much like with the B. stand, I always stop to have a good look at the GOSH stand and I'm always glad that I did. This is a primer but with a bit of a tint and as a result, you can honestly leave your foundation or even a lighter base like the Urban Decay one I've just mentioned, behind on a no-makeup day. This feels so much more expensive than it actually is and it doesn't even feel like a typical primer either. A little really does go a long way with this, as if you apply too much the tint ends up making your face look a little yellow if you over do it. But I would say, the slightly yellowish tint does counteract any dark circles as well as redness too.

Lancome Walk The Lime Juicy Shaker - After seeing these on basically every single blog that I read, curiosity certainly got the better of me with this one. First of all, the packaging is just brilliant. I never actually owned one of the original Lancome Juicy Tubes that were all the rage when I was growing up, this was despite me pestering my Mum to let me try one every time we visited the US. But I'm definitely glad that I could treat myself to this little shaker. The Walk The Lime shade was the one that stood out the most to me and what I love about it, apart from the wonderful scent and taste of it, is the fact that there's no stickiness on the lips at all. It's more of a lip oil than a lip gloss and you can decide if you want to wear it sheer or build up the colour a bit more. I think I might need to treat myself to another shade soon.

Smashbox Panorama Pink Be Legendary Cream Lipstick* - Last but not least we have this brilliant pop of pink lipstick from Smashbox. I'd heard great things about this recent release from one of my favourite beauty brands and just had to try it out for myself. I'm trying to be more brave with the lip shades I go for, instead of just sticking with the 'my lips but better' shades that I normally go for. This one is pink but not too pink, if you get what I mean. It feels like a classic and chic shade instead of one that screams Barbie pink or something like that. This also feels lovely on the lips and doesn't cling to any little imperfections or dry patches, which instantly means a big thumbs up from me.

So there you have it. I feel like I made some pretty good purchases, even if I was feeling a little spendy that day. It's been one of those months where all I feel like I've done is spend, spend, spend but most of it has been happening online via PayPal and for some reason, PayPal money just doesn't feel like real money to me. Dangerous stuff! Hehe. Do you feel the same about PayPal money?

Have you treated yourself to anything recently? If so, what did you buy? And what do you think of my Summer makeup must-have picks? Are there any in particular that really catch your eye, that you'd like to try?

Models Own's New 500 Piece Makeup Collection

Models Own Makeup

For years now, I've only ever associated the brand Models Own with fantastic and fun nail polishes but they're making a real statement, one which seriously challenges that preconception, by bringing out 500 (yes 500!) different make-up products. I was very kindly sent a selection of the new products* to coincide with their launch and the relaunch and revamp of the Models Own website. So here are my thoughts on just some of their brand new products;

Models Own Lip Gunk Review

First up we have some brilliantly bright colours. Basically if you're a fan of going all out when it comes to your make-up, you're going to love the new range. The first products to really catch my eye were the lip gunks. I received a red and a rather bold blue. Now I'm not sure that I'm the kind of person who can pull off a blue lip but the fact that it's even an option shows just how invested Models Own is when it comes to their new make-up collection. They immediately reminded me of the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics lip products, which can only be a good thing and I was really happy to see how fantastically the lip gunks were packaged. You get a lip brush and a little mixing tray, along with the lip gunk itself, all enclosed in a lovely little pouch.

The electric indigo i-Definer kohl pencil eyeliner applies close to the lash line and feels nice and creamy too. This pencil is also available in sixteen (yes sixteen!) shades.

Models Own New Makeup Summer

If you're looking to up your make-up game this Summer, then I can't recommend the next couple of products highly enough. The Sculpt & Glow liquid highlighter, in rose gold, was something that I was really excited to try out. However, I did think that it might be a bit too dark for my skin tone but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it blended really well to leave me with a hint of colour and as the name states; glow. The twist-up Rock n Rosy blusher stick is wonderful. You can wear it as sheer or as heavy as you'd like and a little really does go a long way.

The Now Brow! eyebrow pencil & blender duo has a slanted pencil at one end and a blender on the other. This shade is a little dark for me and my brows but if you're looking to try a new blendable brow product, I'd definitely give this one a go. And last but not least in this little Summer-y section we have the Sculpt & Glow contouring bronzing powder. This is a matte powder that can be used to bronze or contour, depending on what you want to get out of this powder. I think this shade in particular, deep tan, would work really well on darker skin tones.

Models Own New Makeup

Even when it comes to what I would essentially call basics (lipsticks, liners, mascaras, etc.), Models Own have taken it up a notch. The Luxestick lipstick feels lovely on the lips and the mirrored exterior really adds a touch of luxury, as does the magnetic closure. It gives the lips a velvet matte finish which doesn't feel drying on the lips nor does it cling to any dry patches either.

The design of the i-Definer kajal kohl liner blew me away. I've never seen anything like it before. Have you? It's really creamy on the skin and has pretty impressive staying power as well.

And how incredible is the brilliantly bright and bold packaging? Talking of packaging...

Models Own Sweet Dreams Eyeshadow Palette

How fun is the sweet dreams packaging?

Models Own Sweet Dreams Eyeshadow Palette Review

This is just one of nine eyeshadow palettes to choose from. There really is a palette for every need and for everyone in this new range. I've definitely got my eye on one filled with stunning neutrals. If it's anything like the toffee shade in this palette, I have a feeling that I will be seriously impressed. The shadows themselves are creamy, pigmented and easy to blend, aka. everything I look for in an eyeshadow.

Overall I can't rave enough about what I've had the chance to try from Models Own's new make-up range. Not only is it of a great quality but everything is just so affordable. I've already got my eye on a few other products, which I'll obviously share my thoughts with you when I do inevitably try them. You can find the new Models Own collection on their website and I'm sure they'll be arriving in Superdrug and on ASOS in the upcoming weeks and months.

Are you a Models Own fan? What products would you be most excited to try from their new make-up range? And would you like to see me create a look using some of the products over on my YouTube channel?

My First YouTube Video! (And A Makeup Revolution Goody Bag Giveaway)

After years of talking about it, I've finally started a YouTube channel! A couple of days ago I sat down to film my very first video and here it is;

It's definitely going to take some getting used to and I have a feeling that practice will really make perfect when it comes to my videos but I'm so excited to create a different kind of content.

Here are just some of the ideas I have planned for upcoming videos;
- Florida vlogs - I head to Orlando, Florida later in the year, just in case you haven't heard me go on about it enough already and I'm going to be vlogging my trip over there. Expect sunshine, shopping, excessive amounts of food, theme parks, all things Disney and much, much more.
- What's In My Carry On Bag - And since I'm already planning what to take with me, even though it's months away, I already can't wait to film this video.
- Scottish accent tag - As you will have noticed, if you've watched my first video, I do have an accent and I really enjoyed watching both Charlotte and Roisin's Scottish accent tag videos. So if you're a fan of different or Scottish accents you might want to check that one out.
- Monthly favourites - I've done one yearly favourites post on here back in 2014 but I've never done a monthly favourites and that's because I tend not to have enough days in the month to get that done along with all my other posts but I have a feeling that it will be a lot easier to rave about my favourites in a video. That way I can include some favourites that I can't necessarily photograph.

If any of those sound like something you or someone you might know, would enjoy, then please hit the subscribe button. Let me know what you think of those kinds of videos and what you would like to see on there. Would you like to see more lifestyle related videos and vlogs or do you prefer sit down videos? I'd love to hear what you think.

And as I mentioned in the title of today's post, there's a Makeup Revolution goody bag giveaway in my first video. For all the rules and what you have to do to be in with a chance of winning, head over to that first video just now.

So there we have it. I'm officially on YouTube!

Does anyone who does YouTube have any tips or recommendations for a newbie like me? I'm especially in need of lighting ideas. What kind of video content would you like to see? And have you entered the giveaway?

The Look Fantastic #LFJetSetter Beauty Box

Look Fantastic June 2016 Beauty Box Review

Look Fantastic carry on the 2016 tradition of bringing us themed boxes with this month's one; the #LFJetSetter box. It's all about treating yourself like a jetsetter when you travel instead of doing what I normally do and spending far too much time and money in the Boots at the airport. So let's get onto exactly what's included in the June Look Fantastic beauty box;

#LFJetsetter Look Fantastic Beauty Box Review

The first product that caught my eye was the Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream. I've only tried a couple of products from Caudalie but they're a brand that I'd definitely like to try more from so I was happy to see this glorious little gold tube in this month's box. I never manage to get a sleep on a flight or when travelling so this eye cream is perfect for adding some much needed moisture to the eye area and it's certainly a product that I'll be taking with me in my hand luggage on my next flight, later in the year. It's also great to receive a travel friendly bottle of shower gel from Korres. I tend to reserve these solely for when I'm travelling as they really are the perfect size for the duration of trips that I tend to take. And a hand cream is always a welcome addition to my beauty stash. This Cowshed Moisturising Hand Cream is great. It initially feels a little bit greasy when you first apply it but once you've rubbed it in that feeling of greasiness disappears after a couple of seconds. My hands feel incredibly soft as a result of putting this to the test over the past week or so.

Mr Blanc are a brand that I've seen feature pretty heavily across social media, particularly on Twitter and Instagram but I'm quite wary when it comes to trying new products out on my teeth. My teeth are rather sensitive and a little yellower than I'd like as a result of vitamin deficiencies. Having tried one sachet, I haven't experienced any additional sensitivity and I was pretty happy with the results achieved after just one treatment. I'll definitely need to look into trying these on more of a frequent basis.

Unlike Mr Blanc, which I'd heard and seen a lot about, the next three brands are ones that were completely new to me, which is really exciting, especially as I've discovered so many great products and brands thanks to beauty blogging. The Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturiser feels lovely on my dry skin and I really liked how rich it felt. If you've got dry or dehydrated skin, like me, I would definitely look into Naobay's range, which is exactly what I'm away to do just now. The Tan Organic Tanning Oil is for all of you sun worshipers out there. It's basically a moisturising dry oil that enhances your natural tan. And last but not least, we have the Dead Sea Spa Magik Beauty Balm BB Cream. This immediately impressed me as it comes with an SPF of 15. Who else prefers to wear BB and CC creams in the warmer months? If you do, something like this is ideal and it definitely ties in with the jetsetter theme as a full face of make-up is a real no-no for me when I'm on holiday somewhere warm and sunny.

Elle Magazine Free Look Fantastic Beauty Box

Again we've got the latest copy of Elle magazine with this month's box. If I was flying out anywhere soon this would be coming with me in my carry on.

Overall I think this is a pretty impressive Look Fantastic beauty box and it ties in nicely with it's theme of choice for this month. I'm already looking forward to see what the theme of next month's box will be.

What do you think of the #LFJetSetter beauty box? Have you tried any of the products in this month's box? If so, what are your thoughts on them? And do you have any Summer getaways planned?

My New Spring/Summer Staple & A Style Consultation With Your 5 At Silverburn

How To Wear The Cropped Trouser Trend

As you might be able to tell from reading Ellis Tuesday, I spend most of my free time, when I'm not blogging that is, doing my other favourite hobby; shopping. And most weekends you'll find me in one of my favourite shopping destinations; Silverburn. So when I was invited along to Silverburn for a style consultation a few weekends ago (like I wouldn't already be there on a Saturday hehe), I headed along to see what a personal stylist could do for me and my wardrobe.

My style consultation was conducted by a top stylist who showed me that you don't need to buy a whole new wardrobe each season to stay in style. One great purchase, that can take you from day to night, is what you're looking for. She took me around five handpicked rails which featured five of the biggest trends for Spring/Summer this year, hence the Your 5 name. There was the cropped trouser, silk, the shirt, the short jacket and the sneaker.

Working with the Your 5 stylist, we picked the five pieces that suited me and what's already in my wardrobe, best and after registering my details with Silverburn, these picks were emailed directly to me. As we chose each of the five pieces, the stylist took a quick photo of them and these were also emailed to me. It definitely made it a lot easier to pin-point my picks once I started hitting the shops and I could ask shop assistants to help me find individual pieces without having to try and describe what they looked like. The consultation certainly saved me time in the long run and unlike flipping through my favourite fashion magazines, I could actually see in person many different takes on the one trend, as well as which one suited me, my body shape and my style aesthetic best. I definitely saw some pieces that I would never have even considered had they not been brought to my attention, which was great and they really did have something for every size, age and shape. Here are my top 5 picks when it comes to the Your 5 categories;

Silverburn very kindly provided me with a gift card so I could pick up one of the pieces from my consultation and I knew exactly what I just had to add to my Spring/Summer wardrobe straight away.

Topshop Pleat Trousers

These cropped pleated trousers from Topshop* are perfect for the warmer months and it's great to leave my skinny jeans at home for once. They really add something special to an outfit and they do exactly what I wrote about earlier; they can easily take me from day to night. Topshop and many other stores have this style of trouser in different prints, materials and colours so it's definitely the time to buy if these look they could be your style. I'm already thinking of picking up another pair in a lighter colour.

Spring/Summer Style Staples

I paired them with a beautiful baby blue camisole top, which was just £4 from Primark, my beloved Hotter Tourist sandals*, which I haven't had off my feet since I got them and two of my current favourite pieces of jewellery. Don't forget that you can still get £10 off any pair of Hotter shoes, plus free delivery just by using the code PPATEN before the 30th of June.

Happiness Boutique Necklace Review

The Shine Bright Statement Necklace* from Happiness Boutique is such a special piece. I love the combination of the stones and much like the trousers, it really adds so much to any outfit. Another great discount code for you; get 10% off any orders of 19 euros or more with the code ellistuesday. This is valid until July 1st. I also added a pair of my favourite ear jacket earrings from Forever 21 to compliment the necklace and tie the colours of the necklace, earrings and cami together.

Over the weekend that Your 5 were in Silverburn, there were lots of promotional offers running, right through the centre, ones you might not have known about had you not downloaded the Silverburn PLUS app. If you ever plan on shopping in Silverburn, I cannot recommend downloading the PLUS app highly enough. It lists the best deals, discounts, money off vouchers, gifts with purchases and there's even competitions to win from some of your favourite stores as well.

I really hope that the Your 5 team return to Silverburn just before Autumn/Winter, as that would definitely give me some style inspiration for the colder months.

Would you find a style consultation helpful? Have you picked up any of the big five Spring/Summer staples this year? What do you think of my picks? And are you a fan of the cropped pleated trouser trend? Do you like the way I've styled them?

Last Minute Father's Day Gift Guide

Last Minute Fathers Day Gift Guide Blog

Even though it's exactly two weeks until Father's Day (it's the 19th of June just in case you weren't aware), I would still class that as last minute, as shopping for the men in our life, particularly our fathers can be pretty difficult at times. Don't worry though as I've got a number of gift ideas to share with you today which should hopefully work for many different Dads and there's still more than enough time to have your gifts delivered before Father's Day arrives.

Affordable Fun Father's Day Gift Ideas

First up we have some fantastic and super affordable Father's Day gift ideas from Superdrug. If you're anything like me, you'll probably be in Superdrug at some point before Father's Day to have a little browse in the beauty aisles for yourself, so why not check out the brilliant range of gifts that they have to offer too. My Dad is one of those people who needs coffee to start the day (who else out there is the same?) so this self stirring mug* will definitely go down well. The light up watch* is a great novelty gift and actually pretty practical, which is something that most of the men in our lives will certainly appreciate. And the mini tool kit* is even more handy and it all fits in the adorable little tool box that comes with it. They're all currently half price right now and you can even earn some Health & Beautycard points whilst you pick up his presents too.

Chillsner Review Beer Bottle

If your Dad enjoys an ice cold bottle of beer, especially in the Summer months, then I've found the absolute perfect gift for him; The Chillsner*. This nifty device allows you to keep it in the freezer and then slot it in to any bottle of beer to instantly chill it. It even cools down a warm or room temperature bottle of beer; perfect for the warmer months.

Smartphone Projector Review

Another really fun and cool gift idea; this smart phone projector* from Prezzybox. Basically if you're looking for some fun and unique Father's Day gift ideas, get yourself on Prezzybox as they have such a brilliant Father's Day selection. My Dad got his very first smart phone this year and if your parent is anything like mine he'll enjoy assembling this little piece of kit and playing around with his phone to get it to work. It really is a fun and novel gift idea and one that doesn't break the bank either. Maybe we'll need to try it out when it comes to our next family movie night.

Elevate Breve Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review

Talking of technology, my Dad is and has always been a big music fan. This Elevate Breve portable bluetooth speaker* is ideal for when he's pottering about in the garden or out cleaning his car.

Father's Day Gift Guide

If your Dad's a fan of anything on wheels or loves all things car related, like mine does, this recycled tyre wallet* from Eighteen Rabbit is a really creative way of combining his adoration for motor vehicles and the practicality of a wallet. As I mentioned, it's made from recycled tyres and you can definitely tell that it is when you give it a feel or a little sniff. It smells just like rubber tyres. And if you're Dad sports facial hair or a beard, Napier the Herbalist have launched the UK's first Beard Club that you can sign your Dad up for. Essentially it's just like any other subscription service except each month he will receive a 10ml bottle of Napiers Original Beard Oil* as well as intersting facts, stories, competitions and offers, all for just £1 a month (plus postage).

Last Minute Father's Day Gift Ideas

My Dad is a big fan of chocolate and honeycomb so these bars from Mighty Fine* immediately caught my eye. They even have gift boxes of the two flavours featured in today's post on Not On The High Street. These would work really well for adding a sweet treat to your Dad's gifts. And I can't talk about sweet treats without mentioning these Caramel Fizz jellies. These are absolutely amazing and they're also 100% natural and made from real fruit juice. I might have to steal a few from him when he opens them.

Jolly Awesome Greeting Cards

And much like in my Last Minute Mother's Day Gift Guide, last but certainly not least is a great card. Depending on your Dad's taste and sense of humour, there's a card for him thanks to Jolly Awesome*. These are just some of the fantastic selection available and you can even pick up your Jolly Awesome card from Scribbler.

If you've not started your Father's Day shopping, hopefully there will be a couple of gift ideas in today's post that will have caught your eye. And when it comes to delivery, there should be more than enough time for everything that I've featured in today's post to arrive with you, before the day itself.

What are you planning on getting your Dad this year? Or have you already started your shopping? What do you think of my Father's Day picks? Plus, how incredible are Jolly Awesome's cards?

KIKO Glasgow Grand Opening & Haul

KIKO Haul Cosmetics Makeup Skincare Beauty Blog

Last Thursday I was invited along to a very exciting blogger event as KIKO Milano opened it's doors in Glasgow City Centre. As you will have seen if you've been reading Ellis Tuesday for a while, I'm quite the KIKO fan, particularly when it comes to their limited edition collections. However, despite this, I hadn't tried anything from their permanent line nor had I actually stepped foot in a KIKO store. So you might be able to work out how excited I was when I first heard that KIKO were opening a store in the heart of the city. Not only that but it was opening on one of my favourite Style Mile streets; Buchanan Street. It's certainly much easier to get to in comparison to the other Glasgow store in the Fort, which is exactly why I haven't yet checked out that specific store yet.

KIKO Glasgow Buchanan Street Store Opening

We were invited to check out the store and to enjoy a bloggers breakfast an hour before it was opened to the general public. And when I turned onto Buchanan Street at 10am (bear in mind this was a whole hour before the shop even officially opened to the public) there was a queue right along the street with at least 100 people waiting in line. We later found out that some had even been queuing since 7am but KIKO were certainly welcoming the store to Glasgow City Centre with a bang by giving the first 50 people to enter the store a gift card and the first 200 to make a purchase, a special gift in the form of a goody bag.

KIKO Luxurious Lipsticks & Lip Pencils Review Beauty Blog

It was so incredible to see everything in it's brand new state since nothing had been touched. Just look at how beautiful everything looked?

KIKO Nail Lacquers Review Beauty Blog

And of course, I couldn't visit without making a purchase or several so here's what I picked up on my first but certainly not my last, visit to the store;

The water eyeshadow, volumizing lip gloss and gel nail duo were in the goody bag I received for being one of the first to make a purchase. I like to think I was slightly restrained on my first visit but I think the photograph tells another story. Hehe. I've not put everything to the test just yet but once I do I'll definitely be sharing my thoughts on here and on social media. Are there any products in particular that you would like me to review first? I was really surprised to find out that KIKO were stepping into skincare with their Skin Trainer range, which is why I just had to try out the CC Blur. And everything was just so affordable! I mean, how could I not snap up a concealer that was less than £6 which also matched my ghostly pale skin? And how could I ignore the limited edition Summer range either?

Have you tried anything from KIKO before? If so, what would you recommend I try next? Is there a KIKO store near you? And what do you think of my haul?
