The Body Shop All-In-One™ Instablur™ Universal

The Body Shop All-In-One™ Instablur™ Universal Beauty Review Swatch

This particular product has quickly become a firm favourite of mine and one that I find myself reaching for on a daily basis. I'm not the biggest fan of wearing a lot of heavy make-up during the day, especially as the weather starts to get warmer, so I'm always looking for ways to get away with wearing as little make-up as possible on my face in particular. The Body Shop have really answered those prayers by releasing a product that I can quickly apply which also dramatically alters the necessity for a plethora of products to be used.

I've personally been using Instablur™ on it's own to instantly blur (you see where they got the name from) away any imperfections or visible pores but you can also use the product as a primer under your traditional base products as well. It definitely gives me the confidence to abandon the base products that I usually wear.

You only need a tiny amount of product to see a real difference in the appearance of your skin. I would recommend using a small pea sized amount of the product, which should be more than enough to cover the entire face. Application is really easy too as you can easily apply Instablur™ with your fingers as it naturally melts into the skin.

The Body Shop All-In-One™ Instablur™ Universal Swatch Beauty Review

(From left to right: product as dispensed from tube - product swatched and blended)

The gel like formula goes on so lightly and as I said earlier, literally melts into the skin without leaving any residue at all. You genuinely don't feel like you are wearing any product on the skin at all, yet it works like a magical veil which mattifies the skin and erases visible pores. On top of all this, it's also incredibly soft which makes it a real pleasure to apply to the skin. Even though this is considerably thicker than any other primer that I have tried in the past don't let that worry you in the slightest as it disappears into the skin before your very eyes leaving you with a velvety soft visage.

As the product is a clear gel which blends into the skin, you don't have to worry about the product being too light or too dark for your skin tone (this is the one thing that often puts me off trying more BB and CC creams to be honest).

The only thing I was a little worried about was how it would work on someone, such as myself, who has pretty dry skin. The word mattify concerned me a little, before I had tried this out, as I thought it might go a little chalky (like many other priming products have on me) but I had nothing to worry about with Instablur™. The product itself is enriched with marula oil so it is incredibly moisturising and leaves skin feeling baby soft.

What do you think of Instablur™? Does it sound like a product that would work for you? Have you tried any of these kinds of priming products before? If so, what ones would you recommend?

  3. I'd love to try this, will have a look at it next time I'm in the shop! It sounds similar to Baby Skin which I loved at first but now find too greasy so maybe this would be a bit better for me x

    1. I though Baby Skin was a little greasy too which is probably why I never purchased it but this leaves no residue or grease at all Charlotte! :)

    1. I haven't personally tried Benefit's The Porefessional but from what I can tell from other's reviews of The Porefessional is that that is more silicone/gel based and can be a little greasy on the skin. Instablur is neither greasy or silicone-like either. Hope that helps Allison! :)

  20. I've heard so much about this! I might have to give this one a try, as it's probably a lot cheaper than the Benefit Porefessional, which does a similar job. :)
